i think the cards fallthis year, however they move up to wild card if carpenter can pitch consistantly after he comes off DL
The reds, ahhh, my reds, i had so much hope going into this season and i belive they will lose many close low scoring games, they got their pitching more in order, and have a bullpen, but it seems as though they sold their offense to do it. The Cubs have too much in soriano lee ramirez, and derossa not to win quite a few games.
i would love to see my cubbies come out on top of the pile this year, but i won't hold my breath or anything. They sure like to let me down a lot.

Does anyone remember the Boston Red Sox alternate caps?
The NL Central is really weak this year. Here's my take on the standings:1) Brewers: Team on the rise with good young talent, a fairly good bullpen, and maybe the best overall rotation in the division with Sheets-Suppan-Capuano-Bush leading the way.It all depends on Sheets' durability and health.
2) Cardinals: Rotation has Carpenter and not much else. While Pujols will have another MVP year, the offense's other important cogs, specifically Rolen and Edmonds, are on the decline.
3) Astros: Much like the Cardinals, they have lost important pieces of their rotation in Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens. Lance Berkman and Carlos Lee will prove to be a good 3-4, but the rest of the offense is lacking, especially with a punchless bottom third of the order with Adam Everett, Brad Ausmus and the pitcher's spot acting as automatic outs in the 7-8-9 spots. Craig Biggio should not be leading off at this point in his career. Brad Lidge is no longer "Lights Out."
4) Cubs: $300 million doesn't buy you a division title. Offense should be productive with a core of Alfonso Soriano/ Derrek Lee/Aramis Ramirez. Bullpen and rotation are questionable. Not wise shelling out the big bucks to Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis, with the latter having the highest ERA in the league of those who qualified for the ERA title. Ryan Dempster is the closer...for now. Where are Kerry Wood and Mark Prior?
5) Reds: Aaron Harang and Bronson Arroyo make for a good 1-2 tandem, but that's pretty much it for their pitching, both in rotation and bullpen. Speaking of the bullpen, a team that has to depend on Mike Stanton and David Weathers for saves is not going to do well. They can mash with the rest of them, but without pitching, the best they can hope for is third place. Maybe.
6) Pirates: It was hard making a choice between the Reds and the Pirates for who gets the "honor" of being last place, but I'm going to stick with tradition and pick Pittsburgh. Their pitching is promising, with Zach Duke, Ian Snell and Tom Gorzelanny, but they are too young and inexperienced to translate their potential into enough success to reach .500. Jason Bay should benefit from the addition of Adam LaRoche, but there's not much else to say. Very unlikely for Freddy Sanchez to hit .344 again, though a high average isn't out of the question.
Where is the cheapest place to park near the Skydome to catch a Jay's game?
Most likely the Cards, only through attrition. The Brewers have a shot this year, since the whole division sucks. I still scratch my a-- at how the Cards won it all last year, a .500 team at best. Sounds like you like the "Brew Crew", and I do think this year is their best chance, only cause all the other teams are weaker.. But don't get Pennant hopes going, let alone World Series dreams. Where's Bud Selig when you need him?Which MLB Hall of Famer struck out over 1,500 times but still batted over .300 for his career?

Which baseball team is gonna have the best year and why?
Definitely not the Cubs on top. They are the most pathetic team in sports history and hopefully Wrigley will crumble and burn soon.Would oldtime ball players make it in todays media frenzy?

The Yankees in last place for their division.. How funny is that?
I don't know, but the division isn't anywhere near as weak as the experts say it is.What year did MLB rosters expand from 20 to 24 players?
Honestly the divison is wide open right now but I do think the reds have a realistic shot of winning the divison. They do have Bronson and Aaron Harang but don't sleep on Kyle Loshe and Matt Belisle. Eric Milton will be replaced by Homer Bailey later this year. As for our bullpen it's among the best in the National Leauge. Our closer situation right now is rough but I belive that by the end of the season young left Bill Bray will be our closer full time. As for the Cards Chris Carpenter is on the shelf and their starting pitching is below average without him, the Cubbies bullpen is not very good either. The Brewers have a ligitamate shot at the divison too their bullpen is average and starting rotation has gotten better with the addition of Jeff Suppan. The Stros have no pitching besides Roy Oswalt and I don't know yet about the PiratesShould there be an asterick next to players name in the record books?
Milwaukee Brewers - (great starting pitching, good line-up, decent bullpen)St. Louis Cardinals - (great line-up, starting pitching needs to hold up be healthy, ok pen)
Chicago Cubs - (nice line-up but can it coexist, no bullpen, starting pitching is iffy after zambrano)
Pittsburgh Pirates - (solid young pitchers in rotation and pen, line-up is young and full of potential could be this years Tigers)
Houston Astros - (bad start, they'll miss the starters they lost, weaker pen, line-up ok but weak compared to the rest)
Cincinnati Reds - (have potential but someone has to finish last)

Yanks' fans, how disgusted are you with how they're playing so far?
Your wrong sorryPirates-went over .500 last part of the season and have the best pitching staff in the division
Cardinals- Just a really good team every year will take the wild card
Astros- Once Clemens comes back they will be a really good team just too far away from Pittsburgh and St. Louis
Reds-Just don't have the run producing or the pitching sorry Griffey
Brewers- Yet again the Brewers will have a bad team which isn't weird now a days
