Can the Oakland Athletics Win The MLB Championship?
Question:
Answers:
I have chosen a team to show on Scoreboard it is not appearing.?
Well i gotta say YES!! of course we CAN and yeah we kind of didnt prove that on today's game but just wait once we start plying more games then we will prove everybody else wrong. Yeah people might put the excuse that since we dont have The Big Hurt and Zito that we cant make it to the playoffs!! but we sure do have Piazza and Stewart is not bad. Also i expect HARDEN to be able to pitch this season without having to go to the DL. And let me remind you how may people last season didt believe the A's were going to the playoffs at all, and not only were we thw 2006 AL WEST CHAMPIONS but we made it as far as the Championship series, and we were so damn close to making it to the WS. But we will make it this year, trust me on that.GO A's!!
OMG! Should Jim Leyland be fired?
No!!!Any softball chants out there?
nope if it didnt happen with there pitching staff 5-6 years a go not now.How do you stripe your lawn? (Like a basball field)?
Not really. They don't have that "leader" anymore. Sure, they have Eric Chavez, but he has proven that he can not be consistent. Angels or Mariners will take the AL West this year. What is the procedure for making an appeal when a base-runner misses a base?
Yes. They might not seem like they have all of the weapons, but many times the A's have turned their little payroll into an awesome winning team. Once Loaiza gets healthy we have Harden, Haren and Loaiza as a 123 and I think if they all perform well, it will be one of the best in the league. I also predict that Bobby Crosby, if he avoids injury, can become the game's next Derek Jeter over at shortstop.I dont know. Their roster insists no, but Billy Beane is a master of winning the "Moneyball" way. He is a master and I would trust him as an A's fan to win a lot of games.
How much of a differnce does it make between throwing on a mound and throwing on flat ground?
i dont think so. losing frank thomas really hurts because he was their big run producer i doubt piazza can fill his shoes. pitching is still pretty good though losing zito hurts. Why doesn't MLB move one team from the NL Central to the AL West to even out the divisions?
No they can't. I know today was only one game, but they looked helpless at the plate. You keep hearing about how Billy Beane is a genius, but they really need to get a few more hitters and also guys who can run a little bit. Crosby is hurt all the time, but when he plays he's a strikeout machine. Swisher has some power, but he is either hitting a home run, walking, or striking out. Chavez has a great glove, but he hit .241 last year and hasn't turned out to be the .300, 30 HR guy everyone thought he'd be. Decent pitching will get these guys out, they will have a hard time against the Angels this season. I think Beane needs to stop with the Moneyball garbage and get some athletes, even if he has to ignore the on-base percentage stuff that he believes in.Bobby Crosby the "next Derek Jeter". hahahahahah AH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! Not that I need to go into detail, but Crosby is already 27, has only 304 career base hits, and is a lifetime .244 hitter. By contrast, Jeter got his 1000th career hit at age 26 in 2000 and is a career .317 hitter! ROFLMAO!
Sorry, but they can't.
They suffered major losses this offseason.
Who was the shortstop on the 1959 white sox ?
hahaha!that gave me a good laugh!
=]
What do you rate my fantasy baseball team?
As a die hard A's fan I'd have to say no. I'm sad to say so, but I don't think this team has enough. Harden and Haren are solid, the pen is good but Street is overrated. Chavez, Crosby and Kendall are all big jokes. With that said they still have a chance to win the AL west but not the world series.Yankees at Giants, June 22-24 - Clemens planning to serve up Bonds's big fly?
not this year sorryWhere can i see a cubs game from 05/04/07?
Definitely. The Angels are currently favoured to win the West, but the Rangers and A's are right in there. Baseball-prospectus gives them a 29% chance to make a postseason, and here is why:They may not have the hitting to threaten, as most popular teams these days are, but they have the pitching and the defense to make it far. With Chavez at third, and Crosby and Ellis up the middle, they have one of the best infields in the league. They'll take hits away from the opponents.
Their rotation is rather solid, with young cannons such as Haren, Blanton and Harden. Street as the closer will keep the 3-2 games close in the 9th.
As is, they'll likely get around 83 wins, and if they can get one good run, they can hit 88 and pick up the division from the Angels.
If it rains tonight and the ballgame is cancelled, what are my options?
Very unlikely. The A's will have their hands full winning the AL West and without winning the West, I wouldn't count on them to win the wild card. If Loaiza can stay healthy and they get quality starts from Haren and Harden they will definitely be competitive. I can envision the A's in the playoffs, but not winning the AL Championship.Would you cheer for the Houston Astros or the New York Yankees?
I'd love to see that. I'm a lifetime A's fan.I was bummed that they lost Zito and Thomas. Just losing Zito was bad enough, but the Big Hurt was the spark plug the A's needed.
I think the only way they win is if Harden stays healthy and has a breakout year and Milton Bradley has a career season. Their defense and bullpen are fine...I'd like to see them run a little more.
Go A's!
What has been going on with the Astros?
Hell Yeah...They Sure Can, We Have a Very Good Team This Year, So What If Thomas, Zito, & Payton Left. I Know We Still have What It Takes To Win It, and As a Die Hard A'S Fan, I Trust My Team & I Think They Will Win This Year..GO A'S.........Why cant MLB put Roofs on all stadiums?
Sure they can. Every team in the league has a chance this year. It's baseball, anything can happen. What's your favorite place to watch a minor league baseball game?
they might win "the championship"but they aint going to win the
WORLD SERIES!
Well to be honest if I the Indians were in the AL West I'd be afraid of them. They have a good staff lead by Haren and Haden and I expect them to win the AL West. They have a very good shot at winning it all.
What professional baseball player had the most home runs in 1986?
I was actually going to say "no" at first but after looking at the team again, the A's look like they have a shot. Things would have to fall right for them though (but that's the case for every other team as well). You lost a big pitcher in Barry Zito but he may turn out to be overrated now. Danny Haren needs to step up big and Rich Harden has got to stay off the DL. Blanton is a pretty solid pitcher and Joe Kennedy's not bad either. Can't say I know much about Chad Gaudin. Esteban Loaiza has his moments.
No way will Mike Piazza, in the twilight of his career, will ever match Frank Thomas' numbers from last year. Losing Jay Payton hurts too. Eric Chavez has got to return to the player he was before in order to pick up some of the offensive deficiencies. Bobby Crosby's another guy who needs to stay healthy.
The biggest strength might be at bullpen where guys like Street, Duchscherer, and Calero have the ability to shorten games. Street however is shaky sometimes. Here's a bit of advice...GET RID OF WITASICK NOW! If the pen is on, then A's have a legit shot at winning the World Series.
How would you react if The Tigers turned it around and went 119-43?
They cannot.. There is no such thing as an "MLB Championship". They can win the World Series, though..More Questions & Answers...
