Do the San Francisco Giants have the best starting pitching staff in the NL West?

Zito is a Cy Young award winner. Morris has turned himself aroudn this season. Cain has nasty stuff and would be an Ace on other teams. Lowry is consistent with occasional greatness, not to mention young and, of course, Lincecum is filthy and he would be a 2 or 3 on most teams.

Try across the bay. Oakland has 3 pitchers in the top ten of AL ERA. The 4th is in the top 20 all this without the pitcher with the best stuff Rich Harden who is on the DL.You must be a Giants fan, but have you actually watched them this year? Yes, they have a good staff, but Zito is the ace? Are you kidding me? Zito has been TERRIBLE this season. Morris is a decent veteran, Cain, Lowry and Linecum have a lot of talent, I'll give you that for sure. But Zito stinks, he's the biggest waste of money this offseason.

You could argue that, but I think that San Diego is more consistent. Lincecum will come with time and really make their rotation solid all around.The Giants have a pretty solid rotation but for my money, the best starters in the NL West are either the Padres or Dodgers. They are both ranked higher than the Giants in team ERA, strikeouts and WHIP. Not to mention that the Dodgers and Padres are the top 2 teams in the West right now. It is because of their pitching, because both of their batting stinks.
I don't think they do. They come in second behind San Diego in my mind. It all starts at the top where Peavy beats Zito in a landslide. From there I think that they are both pretty comparable with a mix of young guys and proven veterans. I would put Cain and Young as the numbet two guys, with Cain having a slight advantage. Three and Four you've got Lowry and Morris against Maddux and Wells. For me I'll taked the ageless wonder and the fat man in a slight win. Morris hasn't been the same since he left the Cardinals and Lowry has yet to prove he can be an elite starter. The fifth spot is the one place I would give San Fran the clear win. Germano is a stud too, but he won't hold the spot very long. Lincecum is better than him anyway, and can pitch circles aroung Hensley. These are in my mind the top two starting staffs in the NL, so don't feel too bad that I didn't give them the top spot in the West. They were solid before Tim came up and aaer even better now that they finally figured out that Ortiz can't pitch. With that being said I feel that with Peavy as the anchor the Padres are a better staff at this point.
Padres have the best staff in the West. They have one of the lowest team ERA's in the National League and have a TRUE ace in Jake Peavy.
