In 1968 the average NL scored about 3.62 runs per game, about 30% less offense than today's game. Two: Koufax pitched in the best 'pitcher's park' in baseball, the LA Dodgers Stadium.

I'm sure that people will bring up Koufax's arthritis, which shortened his career. But two other pitchers on the list also had circumstances that limited their careers. Lefty Grove didn't pitch in the pros until he was twenty-seven, because he was owned by a minor league club, the Orioles, who didn't want to sell him. Warren Spahn also didn't get a full-time shot in the majors until he was 27, because of World War 2.
