The Cubs have more than a chance, next year s finally here. With Soriano leading and a healthy Dereck Lee and Aramis Ramirez behind them there going to be scoring lots of runs.With Zambrano anchoring the pitching staff they are looking good. Lilly should do better in the NL (and he was good in Toronto), Hill had a great second half and should do even better this year, and Marquis and Miller had good springs and should be back to their old dominant ways.
The bullpen is fairly good and when Wood comes back it will be even better. The question mark is Dempster, but if he struggles, I think Wood could be a great closer, he has th stuff, all he has to do is stay healthy.
Ohh and dont forget Pinnella, he really knows howto win.

NO!! The Cubs always find a way to fall apart. Besides that they have quite a lot of questions about their pitching this season. They do have a solid offense but their defense can be questionable at times. They will probably finish second in the division and outside of the wild card

Chicago went winter shopping and spent about $300 million. They brought home a pitching staff with ERA's over 4.. very good bats, and Lou Piniella, maybe their biggest off-season signing...Their hitting definitely looks exciting to watch; Alfonso Soriano, Mark DeRosa and Aramis Ramirez, along with Flyod, Lee and company from last season...
now... pitching, a staff that has a .500 winning %... not looking good...

In a word, NO! St. Louis and Houston are still better than them and you could argue Milwaukee and Cincinnati could finish ahead of them by the end of the year too. Cubs won't finish any higher than 3rd in their own division and even if they improve by 15 games over last year, they go 81-81 and that won't cut it.
