What year was former LA Dodger catcher Steve Yeager born?
Don't try. Just relax at the plate and use your own swing. The homers will come.At your age, you need to begin to learn your swing, and you should be learning about how to properly play the game and how to play all of the positions.
And there's nothing wrong with doubles. They put you in scoring position and can clear the bases very nicely, thank you. Just ask Lyle Overbay.
Don't baseball fans have any interest in reasoned, intelligent discussion and debate any more?
Concentrate on hitting hard line drives.Just focus on making contact and base hit, and eventually, if your swing is correct, home runs will happen. IF you try and hit the ball over the fence every time up, your less likely to make contact with the ball
The Cream and the Clear. It is never too early to follow the lead of MLB players.
try to hit doubles off the wall
get good at that and the homers will come naturally
its all in your swing, if you hit doubles in little league you'll hit homers in high school when it matters cuz chicks dig home runs kid
good luck
"what qualifies as a "Save" for a pitcher in baseball?"?
it doesn't matter to hit a homerun. a run is a run no matter how you get it. look at juan pierre, he rarely hits home runs and look at his status. just get on base and forget the rest...Who holds the Major League record for most stolen bases in a season?
Every Little Leaguer wants to hit one over the fence. I was smaller than most other kids at the time I played, and I got to be the Lead-off hitter, since I could slap the ball around for singles, sometimes a double, and the the bigger kids would then come up and hit me in for a run. Four years of L.L., and never did hit a dinger, but I did have most base hits and runs scored. I guess I played Pete Rose/Ty Cobb ball, versus Babe Ruth/Hank Aaron ball. Play to your abilities, and then run with it!!! Relax. eye on the ball, smooth swing and know what pitch you are hitting. Good luck, and keep on playing! What present will Mark McGwire give Barry Bonds for breaking Henry Aaron's home run record?
It's all about a level swing. Dont uppercut the ball. When the bat crosses the plate, it should cross parallel to the plate. If your swing gets to that point every at bat, you will start driving the ball. Dont make the mistake to try to hit it hard. When i was 12, i had 1 homerun in 15 games but batted over .600. I liked running the bases more than hitting homeruns. Work on that.Who Will Wint The World Series?
Keep in mind that most major leaguers will tell you that home runs are 'mistakes'. They are trying to make solid contact and the in doing so, some go out of the park.Work on keeping a level swing your timing. Remember that driving the ball farther will be because you are hitting the ball at the best possible time. If you keep your weight balanced and use your legs and hips correctly (ask your coach), you;ll drive the ball hard and sometimes they'll go out, sometimes they'll be an out, but most of the time it will be hard hit and that will result in you getting on base more often.
If Barry Bonds doesn't hit 73 Hr's that one year would people still call him a cheater?
Don't worry about Homeruns, I was told a long time ago that there is no defense against a base hit.Just concentrate on making solid contact with the ball and things will fall into place for you. If you are the type of player that is capable of hitting homeruns, it will come in time.
If Derek Jeter were to bash A Rod over the head with a 40 oz bat then bow to the?
Just because you can't "knock it over the fence", it doesnt mean you aren't a good ballplayer. There have been many, many big leaguers that have few home runs and are in the Hall of Fame. Just concentrate on making contact with the ball instead of trying to crush it. You are much better off if you hit .300 or higher and have no homers than if you hit .220 but have a lot of homers. Not everyone is a home run hitter. Just be the best player you can be and that includes defensively also.Keep your focus on just hitting the ball. Relax and have fun.
Forearm/hands/wrists strength for baseball?
Shorten up your swing and keep it level.Further, I'd advise you not to go for home runs. Successful batting usually has nothing to do with home runs, but rather with on-base percentage, placement contact hitting, and working the count.
