Not this season it won't. I do understand that the Yanks have Roger Clemens but he will only pitch once or mabey twice a week (unless he get's injured), so that will only solve there pitching problems for those one or two days a week. And next, A-Rod will have to heat up sometime from now because he's been slumping so they will need him to jam some more homers!Who will suck this season in baseball?

It's really early in the season so you really can't be too worried right now. They are just in panic mode because they're not used to hurting like this. When they get Clemens back and he wins a couple for them I think that will give them a real morale boost and then they'll be fine.Is Jorge Posada a Hall of Famer?
I imagine it will at some point. The pitching staff has been their achilles heel so far. I think that when Clemens returns it will give them a shot in the arm and they will run off a winning streak. And you have to know the front office will not sit back and watch this continue for much longer. But I think that no matter what they do at this point they wont win the East. I think that the Yankees are paying for all the trades that they have made over the last 5-10 years for the veterans that they got to make the playoffs and this may just be the beginning of a streak of 3-5 years where they will have to rebuild their system back to where it was in the early 90'sWhere can i customize a baseball glove?

Yankee fans keep saying "we have been behind before and came back"---No-you have not been this far behind (10.5 games) in May with this bad of pitching and this good of a Boston team in front of you. You guys seem to forget that you always had arms--that's over. You had chemistry--that's over. And as far as Clemens-this guy had ERA's in the mid 4's in New York. he went to the NL-dropped it down. When Yankees team is riding on the morale of a 45 year old -all about me pitcher who doesn't even want to be with these guys unless he's pitching that day--ego maniac--the slump has only begun. Lets see Clemens throw that heat by Vlad,Travis,Ortiz,Manny,Thome(... his butt),Sheffield,Ordonez,Dye--C... will give NYY 6 IP per start--give up 3-4 runs--leave the game,leave town and let that bullpen suffer some more. Yankees slump will end in about 2 years when those young arms are ready (If Brian Cashman doesn't trade them all away for over the hill players). Sucks if it stings--but this is all fact. Don't give a damn if Yankee fans like it or not.

the lineup is too good for them to stay in a slump. However, the pitching, especially the relief, cannot keep up with the rest of the league. It's just too mediocre.
And as for Shawn G's answer, I agree with everything he said about Clemens, but 10.5 out is not 14 like they Yanks were in 1978... and we know how that turned out. We Sox fans should never get comfortable with a lead.

They need to start playing fundamentally sound baseball to end this slump. They have pitchers who have struggled so far this season. When you have a struggling pitching staff, and your defense gives up a two-run home run (Damon has the ball bounce off his glove in the third) and three errors, you can't expect to win many games. Look at the picture I have posted, this should be caught by any major league outfielder.Until Joe Torre gets off his butt and tells this bunch of overpaid monkeys how to play defense, they will not get out of their slump. If you play fundamentally sound defense that will help to support your struggling pitchers and get them out of tough situations. The Yankees poor defensive play is part of the reason behind their pitching woes. Roger Clemens alone cannot save this team.

Hmm..well, a month a go the Yankee fans rally cry was, "once we get our pitchers back look out" "our offense is the best in the league and will carry us". So now you have Pettite, Mussina, and Wong back and they have not impressed at all. The "great" offense. Except for the 8th inning yesterday, have scored how many runs in the last nine games? Not too impressive there either. Other excuses or comments "wait till Memorial Day and see how far back we are"...oh oh..that is next weekend. How about, "ya whatever, we will see come the All-star break" and "whatever, yanks always start off slow and the red sox suck and choke at the end of the year".
So let's see as far as our check list of excuses and predictions is considered. Pitchers back, nope still losing, check! The best batting lineup in tact, nope, not so much, still not hitting and still losing. Check! Memorial Day is next weekend..oops, still losing and now a half a game out of last place. Check! So what's left on our checklist of excuses and predictions? All-star break and September/October. I have my pen ready. Check!
