Is the baseball statistic ERA pronounced "era" or "e-r-a"?
It means that the batter in the last of the ninth inning or in an extra inning game delivered a hit or a home run to win the game for the home team. So, the other team now can just walk off the field--game over.Cow!!
Does Mick Jagger sometimes bat from the other side of the plate?
"walk off" means in the bottom of the ninth to win the game. or of course if a team is in over time, then it'd be the bottom of that inning. but it does mean to win the game. You're all wrong... Here's the scenario again! Think Think Think!?
In baseball, a walk-off home run is a home run which ends the game. It must be a home run that gives the home team the lead in the bottom of the final inning of the game — either the ninth inning, any extra inning, or any other regularly-scheduled final inning. It is called a "walk-off" home run because the teams walk off the field immediately afterwardMilwaukee in the playoffs this year?
A walk off is when a player on the home team scores a run in the 9th or extra innings to win the game. The game is over so they can "walk off"http://www.cardinalballparkvillage.com...

Is Barrys Bonds'challenge to Hank Aaron's record still legitimate?
it means that in the bottom of any inning after eight when anyone on the homme team... wins the game by any of the forementioned waysIt was "game-ending HR" or "game-winning HR" once, because that's what it is. I hate the term "walk-off" because it sounds like one literally walks off the field w/o rounding the bases. It also smacks of showing up your opponent, and you don't show people up in baseball unless you like getting beaned.
It's also another sucky, non-baseball term like "flair", made up by announcers and such to be "cool" or "unique," and unfortunately catching on among fans. Too bad so many celebrate this mediocrity.
Does anyone think if Josh Gibson played in the mlb he'd be the all time home runleader?
O.K. first of all,it's extra innings, not over time. When a team in the bottom of the ninth or bottom of the final inning (extra inning) gets a hit and scores a run with a man or men on or hits a home run to take the lead and thus win the game, it is called a walk off hit or walk off home run.It means that it was a game-ending home-run that won the game for the home team in final inning. The home run was the winning run and the players just "walked off" the field and into the showers after he scores.
I need help proposing a trade?
It's when a player hits a home run that wins the game. The term "walk off home run" came about because when a player hits a game winning home run, the opposing team walks off the field.More Questions & Answers...
