What is the most major league teams one player has ever played for?
If "all the way" means the World Series, it's kind of a wild guess now. (But fun!)Although one should never count the Yankees out, I don't think this team, any more than those of the past few years, has what it takes to succeed in the postseason. The Tigers were good last year - very good - but they completely fell apart against the Cardinals. Teams are going to study those games like crazy to find a way to beat them, and I don't think they'll make it back to the big game, at least this year.
Much as I hate to say it, as an A's fan, I think the Angels will be in the World Series this year. They're an all-around team that has supplemented home-grown players with all-star free agents, and it is really hard to find holes in that roster. Of course, that's why they play the games, and I look forward to my team trying to keep them far away from the playoffs. But if they get there, they're my reluctant pick to go to the World Series.
In the NL, the Mets are looking scarier than last year. Yes, they're kind of everyone's pick at the moment. But no one in the West seriously scares me, and the Cardinals' pitching staff is threadbare. The Mets also have a few issues with the pitching staff, but it's anchored by Tom Glavine, and they may have Pedro back after the break. Again, it's a wild guess with one game out of 162, but I'd say the Mets are going.
So Mets-Angels - who would win? I'd have to say the Angels. Their pitching staff is stunningly fearsome, and could become even more so as the season unfolds. I see that standing them in really good stead in the postseason. With K-Rod closing off games, barring a heartbreaker like Mo Rivera's Angels game, they'll be really hard to beat.
It should be a good season, though, and it feels almost treacherous to be slotting people into the World Series! May the best team win, and may the rest of us all have a great deal of fun.
