Best teams in the AL & NL (not best record)?
Question:NL - Mets: 4 potential MVP candidates (Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Delgado, although Delgado has started off slow), great pitching, and a sound supporting cast (Green, Alou, Valentin, Lo Duca)
AL: Twins- Best pitcher in the game (Santana), best closer in the game (Nathan), batting champion (Mauer), former MVP (Morneau), and a gold glove CF (Hunter)

When you size up baseball teams you can't go through individual players to make your point (like you can in the NBA for example). Even the best starter only shows up in a game at most twice a week, and the league's best hitter must wait for eight other guys before his next at-bat.
With that said though your picks were dead on.
The Mets led the major leagues with 98 wins last year (tied with the cross-town Yankees) and there is absolutely no reasn to expect them to slow. Many pundit downplayed them in the offseason because of a weak rotaation when in reality it is much stronger than last year. (Maine is much better than he was last year, Perez is better than most of the Mets' ragtag starters last spring, and if you remember, El Duque and Pedro were only pitching in Mets unis for several weeks in '06). They have the best lineup and defense in the NL, the only question mark is their bullpen. Last year it was the major league's best (Detroit was a close 2nd) but they lost many key contributers- Sanchez, Mota, Bradford, etc. Now their pen is not THE best but only 1 of the best, hardly a reason to knock them down below 95 wins. Plus lets be honest, the NL is pathetic.
I'd take an opposite apprach when sizing up the twins. Since they did not finish with the Al's top record lets discuss the other candidates and show why they are not worthy.
The only team to finish with a better record in the AL, the Yankees are a pitching mess. Its hard to believe the team with the best lineup (perhaps in baseball history) is a questionable playoff hopeful, but their rotation is just that terrible. And to make matters worse just about evry guy in their rotation is nursing a major injury and their bullpen is just not good enough to bail them out.
The Red Sox are great, very well balanced team, but they might experience growing pains. I'm not sure everone has figured out their role yet on the team (but the Twins should keep them in their rearview mirror).
The A's still have too many bloated contracts on their team for them to go out and get the 2 or 3 guys they need to take them to that championship level they've been hovering under for the last few seasons.
Great move adding Sheffield, but the Tigers lack pop to move ahead of the pack.
The White Sox can't rely on the middle of their lineup (Dye had a fluke career year, Thome can't stay off the DL)
The Twins are great, and since they're so young they're only getting better. Phenomenal pitching, multi-dimensional hitting, they are poised to meet the Mets in the the fall.

Atlanta BravesHow would you handle this if you're the manager?
Althought I like the Mets, I think they are gonig to have problems with Atlanta. They have always had the Mets number over the years. Especially with Hudson pitching better, there bullpen is shored up they are going to be tough this year.In the American League its comes done to Boston, if they can get enough offense they are going to be tough to beat. However I love the young team they are building in Cleveland. Sizemore and Hafner are awesome. If they can get a closer before the deadline they could be nasty.
Why is the moss on wriggley field brown right now??
NL - Mets I agree with the MVP candidates. You also have the most exciting player on your team in Jose Reyes. This guy always does something spectactular in a game to give your team a spark.AL - I have to go with the Indians. Sizemore who does it all on offense and can flash some leather. Victor Martinez probably the best all around catcher. Travis Hafner is in a class of his own with Albert Pujols. They also have some good solid pitching and a solid bullpen.
Honorable Mention Milwaukee Brewers and Boston Red Sox.

MLB expert fans: who do you think will be the top 3 teams for each league?
At this point, or any point during the regular season - the best teams are the teams with the best records. That is what gets you into the playoffs. So the best right now have to be Cleveland, Boston, and Milwaukee.
