Starting to collect baseball cards again?

Question:I havent done it in about 10 years, but what are the better brands of baseball cards nowadays (value wise)? And does anyone know of any free websites about collecting baseball cards, besides beckett?

Answers:

HGH... Should it be legal? GH is starting to be made aviable over the counter so I say let players take them.?

Upper Deck and Topps are now the only 2 baseball companies and they both sell quite well...

join the beckett boards and ask this question there...you'll get a lot more hits and responses from people who really know a lot about the hobby...

beckett is probably the best free site for cards

Check out the magazine rack.tuff stuff and Beckett's are both great sources.
You can't beat brands like Topps, Fleer, etc. Just check the series you're interested in - there are so many fancier cards nowadays - like game used jersey or autographed cards or rookie cards - that it's important to check that out when you purchase a box. Nice to know which ones you might encounter.
Have fun! You'll have a blast...again!

Ummmm.kinda confused.?

If Joanthan Papelbon was still a starter what would you expect his stats to be?

It's not the brands you have to pick out. It's the sets. Topps and Upper Deck have about 20 different sets they release year round. It also depends on what your looking forward (ex. if your looking for rookies - Bowman (Topps brand) is always the best.) The big companies release sets with packs that cost .99 for the minor collectors and sets with $100 packs so it depends on what exactly your looking for and how much your willing to spend.

Topps or Upper Deck can be considered the best. You can check out eBay for baseball cards.

What are the possible reasons to bunt with nobody on base?

You know I was in the same boat. I collected in the late 80's and started again about 2000. There are FAR more cards in a set than you may have remembered. There are sooo many subsets that it took away some of the fun.

If you have the patients and money I'd suggest skipping the new stuff and start an older set. 1969 Topps was not horribly expensive and the cards are all still available.

As far as pricing I would recommend seeing what cards are selling for on ebay. You will find that this is much more accurate than Beckett and it's free!

Whatever you do have fun!
