Baseball scenario question?
Question:Runners on 1st and 2nd. The pitcher throws to first to try and pick off the runner but throws wildly into the stands. How far do the runners advance?

Simple play -- if the pitcher steps off the rubber with his pivot foot (same foot as his glove is on) before step it is a two base award as he is now considered an infielder for throwing purposes.If he simply steps or "Jump turns" to first then it is a one base award as he is still considered in contact with the rubber. (Same concept as with a wild pitch that goes out of play.)
