Harold Reynolds - What's he doing now?
I think his biggest problem right now is confidence, you can see it in his eyes, you can see it in his expression, after he gave up the homerun last night you could see his expression was not the same as it used to be. I think it is to early to say he is done, people wanted to right him off early last year but this year is a lot worse and it could be the beginning of the end for Mariano. You cannot help but feel bad for him, I am a Red Sox fan but I have a ton of respect for Mariano, he has earned a lot of respect in my book by the way he handles himself, the way he handled the standing ovation at Fenway the year after the World Series win showed he is a classy guy. I am not willing to right him off yet but it is looking pretty dark for him, I just dont think he is lights out anymore but I think he can still be a decent closer.Cub Fans: Why are the Cubs Better than the SOX( Besides pointing out attendance)?
NO HE ISN'T DONE YET BUT THE RED SOX HAVE HIS NUMBER THE YANKS JUST NEED TO STOP USING HIM SO EARLY IN THE GAMES AND JUST USE HIM IN THE NINTHHow Do U Throw A Knukle Ball With A Wiffile Ball?
See it wouldn't be so bad if he had the amount of saves he had because the Yankees were either scoring a lot or losing a lot. Rivera is blowing saves too, which is not good. He will bounce back and get you 25-30 saves. But I don't think he is anywhere as good as he once was. Rivera is now 38 years old, and is starting to pitch like it. Even at this age he can still be a very good Closer though because of his pitches. I just don't think either the Yankees having Rivera or Rivera pitching will be happening in 2008. I mean I am now 20 years old, and Rivera came to my Frozen Ropes Baseball Camp when I was 7 as a Prospect. He's got some years on him.Does anybody think that the dodgers could go to the world series?
Can You say Brad Lidge. Good Luck Roger I hope Mariano doesn't blow the Dubs away. How would you react if the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series in 2007?
One thing Brian Cashman don't understand is that skills diminish with age no matter how good you were. Look at the Yankee pitching lineup, it's a bunch of old guys. Cashman should have been reloading with younger guys during the last two off-seasons including finding a younger dynamic closer to backup Rivera.I don't think the Clemens deal also will be worth it. He was a 6 inning pitcher in the NL where the batting lineup is not as strong as the AL East. I mean he's turning 45 for crying out loud. But time will tell.
One would think so but NO... Mariano will be just fine, yes he is getting older and it is taking him longer to get his stuff back which is a concern but watching him pitch last night, his cutter had bite to it and his fastball has not lost any velocity he is just simply not hitting his spots right now which is a problem but all pitchers stuggle with that throughout their career. Mo will get into a groove real soon and we will see the best closer of all time lock down games in the 9th as always.
How do you get more than 27 strikeouts in 9 innings?
mariano is great but he sucks against the greatest team ever the boston red sox. mariano is good but the whole yankee bullpen sucks this year. johnathon papelbon is the best closer in the bigs right nowAre mlb fields smaller tody than they used to be?
He has lost his confidence causing him to aim his pitches and not follow thru completely. When he does this his cutter doesnt cut and he is just a fastball pitcher. MLB hitters eat up 1 pitch pitchers.More Questions & Answers...
