Jackie Robinson Day Sunday?

Because the media needs a whipping boy and A-Rod fits the bill. Today, on ESPN radio, Dan Patrick was criticizing A-Rod for taking a curtain call after hitting a home run on Monday with the Yankees already up two runs. He also said A-Rod hit it because there was no pressure. If A-Rod DIDN'T take a curtain call, he would've criticized him for ignoring the fans. He can't win with the media, particularly ESPN which caters to the Yankee haters because they know it draws ratings as there are many people who hate the Yankees. The media gets on Yankee fans for booing A-Rod, which many of them do, but ESPN, and baseball writers in general are quick to jump on him when he doesn't produce. It's not the fans who put A-Rod on the telecasts, or write about his failures, it's the media. They love to see controversy, and to see big-name players struggle, it's good for ratings, which is sad. A-Rod isn't the only Yankee who hasn't produced in the postseason recently. Matsui and Sheffield, two of the big bats were also slumping in the postseason. Everyone needs to share the blame for the postseason failures.

The question was more directed to the media, not the fans. I wouldn't say that Yankee fans expect perfection. The best hitters only succeed 3 out of 10 times. I think if a player struggles on any team the way A-Rod did in June and August last year, they'd get booed. Booing isn't exclusive to Yankees fans. A-Rod just needs to say "Let 'em boo", and go off on those tears where he hits six homers and drives in 15 runs in a week. He just needs to relax.

Who thinks Lou Pinella is doing a bad job here?

because he's the highest paid player in the game playing for the most high-profile baseball team in the world in the biggest media market in the world.

So with all those newspapers, all-sports format radio stations and sports news tv stations, they all pick on the easy target out of laziness; and also because they're all competing with one another to see who can give the most whacked-out analysis of A-Rod.

Mariano Rivera - I know it's early but is it too early to consider him to have lost it?

He's paid like a Super Man, and he needs to deliver every single time he takes the field. He needs to earn his keep. or get rid of him. He also has a very annoying attitude. He will not go down as one of the all time greats. Yes, the media will pick him apart if he does not deliver. Expect it to continue.

Surprise Surprise.?

because hes is a super man in a way .. being a star athlete is like being a superhero .. its sad but true

How do the Twins keep on winning?

Partially, I think it's that the guys who make their money off analyzing sports get tired of stating the obvious and have taken to picking apart someone who at first glance is obviously one of baseball's best players. Also, it's the visibility. For whatever reason, A-Rod has struck some people the wrong way and they take notice of every move he makes. While the rest of the players are allowed to make outs over 2/3 of the times they're up, A-Rod has to answer for each and every out. Forget the millions of factors that go into every out (the pitcher, for example!)

To sum up.I'm sick of it too. As a Yankee fan I hope it calms down so he can stay, but if it doesn't I hope he goes to the Red Sox and wipes the floor with our sorry, ungrateful butts!

Who should the Dodgers get to fill there power void?

It might not be fair, but everything done in New York is magnified by 10. New York is one of the largest markets, with the largest media base. When a person comes in that is making $25M-$27M a year, if he wipes his nose with his sleeve, it's going to be front page news. Dave Winfield went through the same thing in New York, especially after Reggie Jackson left.

When is a run earned?

Many Yankee fans have been very hard on him.I really don't understand why because he;s probably the best player in history but they do.

What do you think is the best pitch you can throw in any count?

Yankee fans are fickle. They expect perfection 181 games a season (including the post season).

What pitch hurts your arm the most?

The Yankees didn't bring him in to hit under .200 in postseasons and leave dozens of runners on base. Until he does something in October, get used to it!

What do u think the world series will be this year?

That's what happens when one player makes more in a year than some teams spend on their entire team.

Think of it this way. Arod makes about $28,000,000 this year.

He probably is involved in 1000 plays during the year (plate appearances and total chances at third). So that comes to $28,000 per play which he is involved in. That is more than many people make in a year.

If someone gets $28,000 to strike out with men in scoring position, that might get booed. If somone gets $28,000 to drop a pop-up, that might get booed.

It ain't fair, but he isn't giving the money back, either.
