Philadelphia Phillies Manager?
Question:I'm a Phillies fan born and raised. And honestly I've been more than critical about their manager Charlie Manuel. I understand that he isnt completely to balme for the phils slow start, but if they continue on their current path he wont last much longer. Now, i know its very premature , but I'd love to have Joe Girardi as manager next season. What do you think the chances are?

yes it is his fault that they are losing. I never seen him do a double switch, or put his team in a position to win game. when was the last time they hit and ran, or played small ball or did anything outside the realm of a normal baseball game. I think Joe Girardi would be a welcome additon to the city and the team, but he would tell ownership off and the Phillies ownership doesn't want that.How do I calculate On Base Percentage?

Charlie Manuel is right now without a contract extension so he can be fired at any point in time. The problem with the Phillies are they concentrated on getting hitters and starting pitchers. This issue is Pat Gillicks fault. If is so great with making these superstar teams, then why is there no backup to the great offense. This is demorazing to the team that the pitching cannot back up the offense. The phillies has probably one of the top 3 offenses right now... There are about 4 of the losses that should be wins because the bullpen fell apart. They have nothing in the pen at all. They should have swept the Marlins and they had the Mets beaten yesterday. Thier only legit loses are to the Braves. As for Joe Girardi.not a chance.might look for someone within the organization first.I am also a Phillies fan born and raised. No its not all his fault but he made two costly errors yesterday. Cole Hammels was pitching a gem and the Phillies were winning. Manuel took him out after 6 innings to use the diminished and tired bullpen. The he left Geary in to hit after he got two men out instead of putting in an offense replacement in the eighth to hit for him. He had Clay Condray to pitch the eighth for him and chose not to use him. After the game Mitch Williams mentioned its moves like this that will cost him his job and i agree. Manuel makes bad decisions late in games that cost the Phillies wins

He's not making the best decisions on the Phillies bad start. I'm also a Phillies fan. Unfortunately, we have no bullpen which basically blew a good number of games so far. Also, a slow start is not uncommon for the Phillies. I believe they have been 1-5 for the past 3 years. Two of those years they ended up 1-6. Even though they had bad starts, they ended up being contenders.How bad do you hate the NY YANKEES?
I'd say he's a good shot to be managing them before the end of April ! The Phils were picked to be in contention for the division and let's face it, except for the bullpen it is a talented team. Someone is going to have to take the blame for their pitiful start - the loss to the Mets on 4/9 may have been the icing on Charlie Manuels's cake.Remember: he was almost let go at the end of last season, so his leash is pretty short !
He was already on a short leash before the season started, so I would not be surprised to see him as the first manager fired this season if things don't turn around in Philly.
Girardi would be an excellent candidate; he did a great job in Florida and was given the shaft there. We'll have to see what happens.
