Is Tony LaRussa a very questionable winner?
Question:Well his career winning percentage is above .500 but some of the things he does really gets me. For example benching the hall of fame shortstop Ozzie Smith in favor of Royce Clayton. Ozzie out played Royce in spring training and if you ask me Ozzie's worst year as a Cardinal was still better then Royce's best year in the bigs all together.
The other thing is he continues to play Jim Edmonds and even put him in the clean up spot even though Edmonds is struggling to keep his batting average above .200. Now I know Edmonds is amazing in center field but So Tagguishi (forgive the spelling) is very sound in the field and has a career batting average of above .280. Which most players can land a starters job with that average. Besides Edmonds has only hit one homer this year. At what point do you give up on Jimmy as your everyday center fielder or at least move him back in the line up? Tony has already given up on Preston Wilson (african american). Which i happen to agree with but still.

Which team will win the AL West?
Let see he is one of only two managers to win a world series in both leagues so I would say NO.Who was the other?
What would be a good informative speech about baseball?
I don't think so. There pitching is becoming depleted and its still early so jim edmonds can snap out of it at anytime. The man did help them win a World Series last year. Ozzie Smith was great...but Royce Clayton had more potential at the time. Every good thiong has to come to an end.How exectly are u supposed to stand to bat in baseball/softball?
I don't think any of your reasons make him questionable as a winner. It just means you don't agree with his lineup decisions. Questionable would be like, does he encourage his guys to cheat, stuff like that. That being said, I do believe he is a questionable manager. I don't think you can deny his knowledge of the rampant steroid abuse in his locker room in Oakland, which followed him to St. Louis with McGwire, and now Pujols (although I guess technically Mihlfeild is giving Pujols HGH, not roids).
How do you tell if an Anderson bat is "dead"?
Why did you feel the need to mention that Preston Wilson is African American? You must be one of the racist black people that think that a white man will use another white man to do a job before he picks the African American. Whatever your reason doesn't really matter, it just has no need to be asked here. Maybe you could call Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson, they will start a cause on Preston Wilsons' behalf. What MLB team has overcome the biggest deficit to come back and win their division?
Tony LaRussa has one and only one thought..win.Read " 3 Nights in August" by Bizz Bissinger. Bissinger also wrote "Friday Night Lights" about football.
"3 Nights" details 3 games in August of 2004 between the Cards and Cubs and tells all the reasons why the games were won/lost by the Cardinals.
In the book's preface it is stated that a Sports Illustrated poll of players on the game's 5 best/worst managers, LaRussa appeared on both lists.
Also in the Preface:
"He seems lile a vanishing breed to me, in the same way that Joe Torre of the NY Yankees and Bobby Cox of Atlanta and Lou Piniella of Tampa Bay also seem like the last of their kind. They so clearly love the game. They revel in the history of it. They have values as fine as they are old-fashioned, and they have combined them with the belief that a manager's role is to be shrewed and aggressive and intuitive, that the job is more about unlocking the hearts of players than the mere deciphering of their statistics."
3 Nights is a great read, and it is now out in paperback.
