Answers:
Why are there four balls and only three strikes in baseball?
That would be because baseball is the national sport in the Dominican Republic and is played generally year round and has a winter league some MLB players compete in. With so many Dominicans being on MLB roster just confirms how good their program at home is. If a West Indian, Canadian, Mexican or Australian had comparable skills they too would be on someones roster. The Dominican Republic produces some very talented and skilled players and I sure enjoy watching them play as I do any player who is skilled and talented, I don't care where they are from, I just appreciate watching them play!Where has Kwith hernandez been in th SNY mets game telecast the past few weeks?

There are only 30 players in MLB from the Dominican Republic or about 13.6 %. now that's not a bad ratio but Venezuela has 18 or about 8.1 %. Players play year round and practice, practice, practice hard. A lot more interest and players get alot of national pride playing IN their country and get more for playing in the states which drives them to try to be the best at a young age. Also much more scouting happens in the DR. than alot of other countries, Other countries are starting to get more notice like Venazuala and some South American countries.p.s Canada needs to keep producing hockey players to keep the sport alive.

I may be wrong, but what I understand is that in poor countries, baseball is played all the time because they just need a bat, a few old balls, some rocks for bases and there ready to play. I guess when all you do is play baseball, you have it in your blood. Kind of like Hockey, Canadians grew up playing hockey on ponds at an early age. What state has the least number of pro baseball players excluding Hawaii and Alaska?
