Here's a trick I use for playing 12" beer-league softball that will work well for you...In your stance, hold your hands as far back and high as you can (more back than high) without straightening your back elbow (right if you bat righty, left if lefty).
When you swing the bat, you will feel like you are swinging down on the ball, when in actuality, your swing will be more on a level plane.
You will hit less pop ups and will drive the ball.
Who has the most career home runs without ever being in a World Series?
Just concentrate on not doing that... you're in control of your own body.Watch Gary Sheffield's batting style... try that.

instead of moving your hands down move them backwards so you can get a more powerful swing and if you don't want to do that then hit off of a tee because if you drop your hands then you will hit the tee and not the ballHey yanks fans? question about the sox fans!?
What I do is put all my wieght on my right foot(right handed)and for some reason it tells my arm to stay up..try that see if it works
first of all, try not to have a long stride. if you have a long stride, you won't have much power. Try and work on loading the bat back instead of lowering it. this will give you alot more power.
the best way is to keep your right elbow up for right handed batters and your left elbow up for left handed batters.
Why are the Phillies doing so badly?
My high school coach had a great, but somewhat painful trick. He would stack a pile of plastic milk crates to where he wanted your swing to be and then you had to take practice swings.. If you dropped your hands, they would hit the crates as you were swinging. Boy that sure worked for me.More Questions & Answers...
