Why do people accuse the yankees of buying championships?

Question:When you really check it out, they did not,. that dynasty was really put together from home grown talent. Rivera, Jeter, williams, Petitte, Posada. Scott Brosius was taken off the scrap heap, they traded for roger clemens. gooden was another off the drug pile. Who did they buy ? what ring did they buy? 96,98,99,2k ?

What is wrong with the orioles pitching?

The Yankees rock! People that say they buy championships are just jealous. Go Yankees!

Most obnoxious fans in baseball?

Helps to have a millionaire owner....

How mnay MVP's did roy campanella win?

It's not that they're buying championships, it is that they are "trying" to do so, as since those titles they have spent out the wazoo to acquire the A-Rods, Johnny Damons, and anybody else that's a sexy pickup out there.

And it hasn't done them a damn bit of good. and that makes me very happy.

Ray Durham or Josh Barfield?

Because they are jealous fools who only wish their favorite team would "buy" a WS Championship. Games are won on the field, and nobody plays for free. GET OVER IT, Yankee haters!

Why should the losers get a ring?

Over the MANY years and MANY championships they have had the money to spend. They are alot older then Pettite, and Posada. They have done this since th 1890's.

If a first basemen covers or picks up the ball with his bare hand at the same time the runner touches first is

Because they do. Duh. They make so much money off revenues an junk like that that they can buy the best players and leave the other teams without any on-steroids players.

Are the d-backs for real, at 7-2? are will they choke as year goes on?

Actually, I think they TRY to buy championships. I think there is a lesson that money isn't everything. They have the pieces but they don't have the heart. If a general manager such as Billy Beane of the A's was in charge and had their budget they would almost certainly win a championship in my opinion.

For yankee fans! boo! hoo! isn't it time to pack it in? even with mussina coming back, boston is kicking ***!

Hate to say it, but the people who say that are not Yankee fans, so they need to make something up. I'm an Orioles fan, I WISH we could buy a championship!

Wooden Bats?

Well, I think the entire thing comes from having the highest payroll for any MLB team. And when another team wins the World Series, they will go after the free agents on the team before the start of the next season.

It isn't saying that they paid someone to win the rings. It is speaking to having such a high payroll, and throwing money at the "talent" as they see it.

I root for two teams - the Chicago Cubs, and anyone playing the Yankees!

One down, eighty four to go. Another typical Phillies season?

i think it has to do with the absurdly high payroll the yanks have in comparison to other teams. they may have cultivated that talent you mentioned but it is costing them plenty to keep that talent from going elsewhere. other teams just don't have the dough to compete with that.

Barry Bonds keeps on hitting?

Yes you are absolutely correct. All the talent they have is from the farm agents. Like Jorge Posada. He is one of their best players and he is coming from the farm agents. He has helped the Yankees to all four of their recent championships. And also Derek Jeter. He wasn't a top notch player like Alex Rodriguez. He was taken in to the Yankees and now look at Mr. Clutch. Bernie Williams, Mariano Rivera, and Andy Pettitte are all top-notch players and the Yankees picked them all up.

Of all the players who have hit at least 60 home runs in a year, how holds the record for the longest drought?

A Rod was not aquired by throwing money at him, they traded for him, and insisted Texas take up some of his salary, so they aren't exactly free with their money.

Yankees are not spending truckloads to strengthen their squad anymore. They now realise exactly what you pointed out, the titles were won with homegrown talent. And they remember losing the world series to the Marlins, a team built on young pitchers. That is why we have seen a policy shift. They have traded for young starting pitching, I expect they might draft some pitchers as well. They have held on to players like Hughes and Tabata, instead of using them as bait to trade for a veteran.

Yankees are no longer talking about this season or the next only, instead they have one eye on the seasons to come. There could well be another dynasty in the works as a result.

How many home runs did Hank Aaron hit by the time he was 30 years old?

If you accuse the Yankees of buying a championship, have to look at the Red Sox too. The Red Sox also have one of the largest payroll in MLB.

Baseball is a business and some teams invest more in their lineups than other.

The Yankees have and will pay top dollar for talented players, but unfortunate for them, sometimes paying top dollar doesn't win a World Series. I have nothing against the Yankees, I like Derek Jeter, hes a hard working player that was brought up the Yankees farm system.

Its interesting to note that the last American League Championship the Yankees have won was before A-Rod.

Which New York Yankees pitcher will be the first to throw a no-hitter or perfect game this season.?

Giambi, Arod, Mussina, Clemens, Matsui, Sheffield/Abreu, Randy Johnson.

Cause they spend wayyy too much trying to buy championships, but fail, over and over again.

How come on all of the Ichiro Suzuki baseball cards, it never says his last name?

1. Their salary cap is huge
2. More than half of all absolute supper stars have played for the yankees. (ARod, Mickey, Babe, Gehrig, Yogi, Rivera, The big unit, Jeter, Giambi, Sheffield, Damon, Matsui, Soriano, Posada, Pettite, Wells, Mussina, Henderson)
3. They win the fall classic every two out of ten years at this point in their history.
4. Their management has been questionable.

Their my number one candidate for the buying the classic theory.

For a relief pitcher to get credit for a save??

The accusations have died down a bit, considering they haven't won since 2000 (and haven't even been to the World Series since losing to Florida in 2003), but the accusations were rooted in Darth, I mean George, Steinbrenner's deep pockets.

If he successfully buys a World Series championship in my lifetime, I won't hate him for it. I'd do the same thing in his situation. With deep pockets comes the responsibility of doing all that is possible to field the best possible team.

How do you throw a slider??

I dont accuse them of buying championships. I accuse them of trying to buy championships. Nearly ever player that has played for the Yankees for the last 5 years has been acquired from another team or picked up in the free agent market.

What do you think about Barry Bond's comment on racism?

There really is only one word to describe these people: HATERS. I take it as a compliment that so many people hate the Yankees. The truth is, I don't really give a damn about other teams. They don't interest me. If people hate the Yankees as much as they say they do, they would stop talking about them. They enjoy being miserable because so many other fans are miserable along with them. It takes a special breed to be a Yankee fan. Not everyone can be one.

Was it right that MLB (Bud Selig) made the St. Louis Cardinals play a day after reliever Josh Hancock died.?

I am a Yankee fan and have been all my life. They do spend money, but as proven over and over money can't buy a ring. Your point is well made and I say it all the time. The best players the Yanks had came from their farm teams.

Not a Yankee hater. Just ironic I think!

Who will the the yankee met game tonight ?

It's what has happened the last six years when they have not won a championship where they have gotten that reputation. I mean when your payroll is 200 million dollars and no one else is even near 150 million, you realize that when any great player may go free agent, the Yankees will pay them either to have the guy play or to keep him off the Red Sox or Mets.

The Tigers series last year was a classic example of that strategy biting them in the behind. Torre had to play Matusi, Abreu, and Sheffield- they all played out of position, none of them had a big hit, and Detroit destroyed them.
