Matsuzaka 1-2 looks like a bust for Boston?

some big ifs here, but if everyone is healthy and in prime form come mid june, you are looking at one of the best rotations. first off you have wang a 19 game winner last year and one of the best sinker ballers. then there's petitte and mussina, two former aces who still have good stuff. then it's clemens, arguably the best pitcher ever who sported something like a 2.3 era last year as a 44 year old. then it's phil hughes who took a no-no into the 7th in only his second start and is being called the next roger. so you have a rotation with an ace, 3 former aces, and a future ace...solid

Need Help Buying a baseball bat?

On paper, pretty amazing. Possibly the best in the bigs. Mussina, Clemens, Petite, Wang, Rasner/Hughes/Pavano... If everyone were healthy and pitched up to their capabilities it'd be pretty lights out. But that is the theoretical level. That assumes that everyone comes back from the DL, pitches the way they should and stays off the DL for the rest of the season. The big plus side is the #5 spot, 3 starters right there, with Igawa able to fill in if needed (he did a pretty good job against the Sox in that one sort of start). So if people go down, there is talent to fill in the gaps. It's when there are multiple injuries that NY has to worry, and with a 44 year old, that is ALWAYS a concern.

But all in all, and staying somewhat realistic, NY will have a great rotation when it all falls in place.
