How can I convince my son to not be afraid of the baseball?
Question:He does ok when it comes to fielding but when he is at bat he tends to step out. He is afraid of being hit with the ball but he knows what it feels like already because he has gotten hit but several pitches and several places. He is 11. What can I do to help?
Answers:
The best thing to do is for you (or someone with great control) pitch them the ball. Once he is in there for a while, his confidence should grow.
Also, make sure he watches the ball every single time. Watch the ball connect with the bat. If he does that, he will notice balls coming at him instead of to the catcher and he will hopefully be able to read the pitches better so he can get out of the way if one is thrown at him.

Tell him that the baseball is your enemy if you let it come at you, you lose he has 2 defeat it by beating the ball.Is Yahoo going to count April 1st (Mets-Cards) Stats for fantasy?
why don't you try to pitch him the ballCan a base ball player switch hit during the same at bat?
practice with him and tell him it doesn't hurt and hope for the bestDoes he really want to play...ask him...if he's not all that hot for the sport and if he's scared of being hurt, why push it? If, however, he really wants to play, and declares that he does, then tell him to "man up"...
A lot of people are afraid of being hit with the ball, even the "big boys" (major leaguers). Throw some nice gopher balls to your son, and let him feel what it feels like when you really get a hold of one and hit the ball well. There is no better feeling than crushing a ball. This will help ease his fear. Maybe even let him get hit with a couple of soft tosses to show it doesn't really hurt. If he's fine with fielding say don't worry about being hit, catch the ball with your bat now instead of your glove.
Should the Cubs give anyone of the following pitchers a call, after Thursday's train wreck?
you could start out with a tenis ball, its soft and then work your way to a tee ball it has a soft core and is sort of mushy, then a actual baseball, you could also make it fun, take him out in your yard to practice hitting but use fruit, start off with something big like a grapefruit then work your way to something small, even as small as a grape really implroes hitting, hand eye cordination and you kid will love it when he's making a mess, note wear apropriate clothes when you do this and glasses incase something splahes back like from a tomato, sounds silly but it a fun/crazy way to work on skillsI dont know if you can. My son went to his first little league game and got hit by the ball in the outfield. He was only five yrs old mind you. He quit and odoens't like baseball to this day. Good luck to you.

When I was younger one of my coached had a tennis ball and had us lean back while he dropped it onto our chest. But this was when I was 6 or 7. Since he is 11 it may be harder to get him back in there. Try going to a batting cage, it is in the same spot everytime so he may get used to it and stay in the box. He will never get hit that way, unless he decides to stand right in front of it.Which team has more fans in Los Angeles,New York, and Chcago?
he needs to bat often and build up his confidence. A batting cage sould help him get a lot of swings with the knowledge of the fact that the pitching machine will not hit him unless he steps over the plate.More Questions & Answers...
