Well, if you're going to a Mets game in the near future, they have a viewing point from inside Shea, up in the Mezzanine level (green seats), all the way in left field. It's free and it is specifically set up for viewing the construction. Also, if you just walk/drive around the construction site, you can get a pretty good view.
