How do people outside of the East Coast feel about the Sox/Yankees rivalry?

Question:I'm a big sox fan, but I wonder if the rest of the country is sick of hearing about both of our teams. As much as we think we're opposites, some fans just lump the yankees and red sox together.

Can someone please explain to me why in baseball some foul balls are considered strikes?

While I think most people appreciate a good rivalry, nobody likes it shoved down their throat. People watched the Miami/New York games in the NBA Detroit/Colorado in the nhl Michigan/Ohio State, Notre Dame/USC because the teams genuinely hate each other. Any sports fan will watch a rivalry game, especially between two competitive teams, but I don't want the first 2 hours of Sportscenter dedicated to it. As a matter of fact there is a place to go for people who care about sports not on the coasts. www.midwestsportsclash.com

Why was Adam Dunns homer a homer and not an error?

I am from the midwest and could not care less about the rivalry. Granted in September it has more meaning if both teams are duking it out for the AL East crown..but for ESPN to give it as much hype as it has for April games is going overboard.

But then again..we are talking about ESPN here. That channel is a joke.

What baseball players do you suspect or have heard used steroids and HGH? Should they be banned from the game

Yes, most of the country hates that Yankees, hell anyone can win the world series by buying the best players on the market, lets see them win using the Royals, Brewers, or Pirates payroll. The Sox aren't far behind in this arguement of spending too much money either.

Who was the first Cleveland Indian to bat .400 in a season?

THANK GOD. if ESPN did spend 75% of there program telling us all about the Yankee,s and the Giants, and the Knicks and the Mets, and the Jets and the Rangers, We in the midwest would have no idea what we could care less about :D Thank you ESPN

How could would Barry Bonds be at cricket?

That is a great question! I was just talking about the rivalry yesterday to a non-expert (lol) and was trying to explain it as best I could..As a Sox fan, I always go back to 1978 play-off game but I guess it must be so annoying for the people that don't like either team to have to put up with all the hype year after year...I don't like being lumped in with any fan that spews negative things about teams in general...I dont like the Yankees but, I have respect for a lot of their players..As for the Sox, I love them all...If you are on the Red Sox, you are ok in my book..lol..(unless Gary Sheffield ever came here..then it would be my first Red Sox player I dont like)..lol...

Who is the best Jap player in MLB right now?

I live on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi (also known as the land that Hurricane Katrina Obliterated) and I love the Rivalry. It makes baseball interesting.
Go Yanks!!

With Friday night's 30-0 minor league baseball game in California, has there ever been a bigger pro shutout?

i live in the midwest and i hate the yankees cause their like little spoiled bratty girls that still cant when even though they have the most expensive players

How Many Homeruns Will Jimmy Rollins Have In 2007 So Far He Has 6?

Now that I actually step back and think about it for once, you're right. Maybe our rivalry is overhyped. (Sorry if I'm breaking rules here, but I am in the East (NYC) and I am such a huuuuuuge Yankees fan.) I'm so sure that the rest of America is sick of the big deal everyone is making about the rivalry. Obviously, we can't end it anytime soon. I mean, what can we do about it? It started with Babe Ruth and the Curse of the Bambino, and I don't think it will end for awhile. There's obviously going to be major tension between these two teams for a LONG time.

Is there an Indian minor league team in the Mahoning Valley League?

I've been sick of hearing about it. I can't wait until the MLB wises up and enforces a salary cap like the NFL. Then Boston and New York can't stock pile a line up of all stars. Parity is one of the reasons the NFL has become so huge.

Scoring question.?

We here in Chicago hate ESPN! Our local ESPN radio station guys make fun of how biased the channel is about the Yankees and Red Sox! We don't care much at all about the games between these two. Who would care? ESPN has hyped this series up so much that we actually now hate this rivalry! Why would Cub, Sox, Cardinal or even Twins fans care to watch these two play on tv every 2 weeks?? Then you have ESPN telling us how great both teams are, making it seem like the World Series. Then there is the 30 other games they air during the year - with over half of them being Yankees or Red Sox!
ESPN has become the Fox News of sports stations. Where FoxNews is a Republican station - but claims they are down the middle, ESPN has become a sounding board for the east coast teams.

We don't care about this series - and ESPN is mostly to blame. Stop starting every Sportscenter with Red Sox or Yankees highlights. And fire Berman. He sucks.

Did the Yankees win tonight in Boston?

hate it.everybody is tired of it. that guy about the salary cap is wrong I like baseball because it doesn't have a salary cap that's they will can get the best players on the world. in the NFL their is only American in Baseball its the best talent in the WORLD. they have japan,Canadian,Dominican rep public,Cuba,Mexico, and Korean players. my favorite rivalry is Dodgers vs. Giants yes I'm bias because I live in L.A but I don't want to shove it down peoples troat's.

What was Mickey Mantles' number before he was number 7 ?

I live in the midwest and think the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry is one of the best rivalries in baseball due to the fact you play in the same division, cities are close by and the fans have a passion for their ballclubs and baseball in general. Red Sox & Yankee fans? All teams have rivalries, Cubs/Cardinals, Dodgers/Giants, White Sox/Tigers, and the fans in these are just as passionate and caring for their teams like the Red Sox/Yankee fans are of theirs. Your teams just get more press is all.

Where can i find New Era 59-50 LOW PROFILE hats?

There are transplanted Bostonians and New Yorkers on the West Coast. Last August in Angel Stadium, the Red Sox fans were louder than the Angels fans during Take Me Out to the Ballgame.
There is always a buzz about a Yankees-Red Sox game, especially when one delivers on the hype like the 4 straight homers in last Sunday's game.

Juan pierre?

I dont think they care

Living 15 minutes outside the Cleveland area, I have mixed emotions about the series. I do think it is highly overrated. But last weekend I watched. I watched to see if Arod would homer. That's the only reason. It was enjoyable to see the comeback Boston put up on Marinao Rivera led off by Coco Crisp. But the fact is these series are played by teams who collectively have won one World Series Title in the last 7 years. The Yankees have lately been an early exit in October--the mystique is gone. Boston wasn't even in the playoffs last year. I personally, and perhaps being biased am WAY more interested in the Central. Twins,Indians,Tigers and Whitesox are very competitive...and the World Title has come out of the Central 2 years straight. This goes for the NL too...I enjoy the Cardinals,Brewers -I love Midwest baseball. The fans are great--alot less cursing in the stands (I have been to Yankee Stadium-it's like a truck stop). The vibe and the events on the streets before the games--all the festivities. I visited St. Louis 3 times--what a great city for baseball. I hear Fenway is like that too--I love the New England area---but what happens in the A.L. East between the Sox and Yankees really doesn't matter to me.
