I'm looking to join a softball team near Cambridge MA?

When scoring a baseball game each position has a number for it. A 6 4 2 double play means the shortstop caught the ball threw it to the second baseman who got the first out and then threw it to the catcher for the second out.

Who won...Twins or Red Sox??

The numbers refer to the numbers given to each position on the field.

By turning a 6 4 3 they are saying it went from the ShortStop to the second baseman to the first baseman.

Why do you think the NY mets will or will not win the world series in 2007?

The proper sequence is 2-6-4. Each position on the field has a number. Pitcher is 1, catcher 2, short-stop is 6, etc. So a double play with those numbers is catcher throws to short-stop who then tosses the ball to the second-baseman. There you have your double-play

Greatest pitcher and hitter ever?

because each position has diff numbers the numbers come in so u can know if it was shortstop to 2nd to first

What versatile athlete's nickname was inspired by her mighty baseball swing?

Each position that a defensive team takes has a number. Pitcher = 1
catcher = 2
1st base = 3
2nd base = 4
3rd base = 5
Short stop = 6
Left field = 7
Center field = 8
Right field = 9

So, for a double play that goes short stop > 2nd base > 1st base would be a 6,4,3 double play.

If the 2nd base man got the ball and sent it to short stop covering 2nd base and then to first it would be a 4,6,3 double play.

What time must a baseball game on fox end for viewers to go to bonus coverage of another game?

This is for official scoring purposes. Each player on the field is assigned a number. As follows:

1-Pitcher
2-Catcher
3-First Base
4-Second Base
5-Third Base
6-Shortstop
7-Left Field
8-Center Field
9-Right Field

When an out is recorded, the positions involved listed in the scorebook. A 6-4-3 double play is a hit to the shortstop, who throws to the second baseman, who throws to the first baseman.

If no out is recorded, then it goes into the book as a hit, home run, or whatever. No positions need be recorded.
