sorry but i am a redsox fan and am loving the fact that the yankees are living in the celler, but its april and george will do something before july to fix the issue.aka rogerWho on your team would you trade for a Pack of Hot Dogs and season tickets to the Devil Rays?
hmm it seems to me like youve never watched baseball before. the yankees always start the season on a horrible losing streak and then turn it around and dominate. like always theyll finish first in the east this year and make it to the world series. so u raelly gotta wake up and not ask a basbeall question if u apparently dont follow the mlb. Will Albuquerque ever have a mlb team?
I am no Yankees fan, but it is still early in the season so I don't say they will pack it in. See where they are at allstar break. Really unless you are a fan, who cares? Are the Royals trying to lose?
I second that thoughtThe division is ours
I will star to see yankee fans come backs
Does anyone know anything about Babe Ruth that I should know for a project for him in school?
typical sox fans, counting their chickens before they're hatched. Will you never learn?I was as happy as you were yesterday when the sox went into NY and rocked the Yanks in their home stadium. But it's a LONG season, the Yankees have started badly before. It's not even May yet. You absolutely can't count a team out (especially those damnable Yankees) just yet.
Haha, agreed. Whats really great is that most Yankee fans are still living in the past and think things are gonna get better which just prolongs the torture. I will predict a 3rd place finish, 9 games out of first.
No pitching = no chance
Has a San Diego Padre ever thrown a no hitter?
yankees fans already pack it in...if you catch my driftwe reversed the curse there was just a warning in small print (please wait 2-4 years for effect)
Not a chance, the Yankees will come back strong and take the division like every year, if you haven't noticed, the rotation is hurt but they will carry them when they come back. Plus, A-rod is back and they have a much better lineup the Boston. In case you haven't noticed, Manny is old and can't hit.
I always have to laugh when someone in April gets all worked up about a team's winning/losing streak! As others have stated before me: It is a very long season, and this season is barely going.
Let's look at the facts: The Red Sox are quite healthy right now. They have luckily made it this far without injuries, so they are doing well. The Yankees, on the other hand, have been absolutely devastated in their rotation, and have had Matsui out and Damon only playing sporadically, as well. If you care to think back to the five game sweep in Boston last year, the shoes (cleats?) were on the Red Sox's feet and they were hurting for pitching. THEY, HOWEVER, did not have time left in the season to rectify their situation, so fell out of the race, which is something that would not have happened if they had suffered their situation earlier in the year. The Yankees have plenty of time, and WILL RECTIFY THIER SITUATION - just wait and see.
How, you may ask? Well, much as I hate to say it because I totally respect Joe Torre as a person and as a baseball man, HE HAS GOT TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF THE PITCH COUNT. In other words, he is beginning to adhere too much to the number of pitches, and unfortunately has begun to give too little credence to the situation in the game. Wang, for instance, was doing well the other day, and was lifted PREMATURELY. If that type of action is performed too often by the manager, the bullpen is soon worn out, the team loses games they might otherwise have won, and their season is soon down the drain. One needs to merely look at the Yankees' woes against Detroit last fall in the playoffs to understand that one needs to keep a bullpen fresh - sometimes by extending a starter a hitter or two, or an extra inning every now and then. Believe me - most starters in the game today are capable of going 120+ pitches if necessary. Though I admit that it is still a little early in the season to go overboard with numbers of pitches a pitcher is allotted, these pitchers on the Yankees staff are capable of going further than Joe has allowed them to go. I for one would rather have a 90 percent Chien Ming Wang out there instead of a 100% Mike Myers..
I also wonder if there is a training/preparation glitch in the Yankees' weight/exercise program that allows for so many pulled parts of the body! There are WAY TOO MANY stretched/pulled tendons, ligaments, etc. for one team for it to merely be coincidence. They may be in a bit of bad luck in regard to injuries, but I also wonder if some of it is also their preparation..
No, it is not time for the Yankees faithful to push the panic button because of their offensive potential, but until they get their pitching situation rectified and approach pitcher replacement in game situations a little more wisely, they may very much be looking at a situation where they not only do not win their division for the first time in ages, they might not even finish in the top three... The Red Sox, Blue Jays, and even the Orioles and Devil Rays are all much too improved to give the Yankees the wiggle room they have previously enjoyed.
One more thing: If the pitching situation is not rectified and rectified quickly, Joe Torre will be out as manager before June first. I truly hope this never comes to pass...
rock on sox!! but it's still early to say the yankees will finish last.
