Tagging up? did the run count?
Question:Runner second and third, one out
Batter flies out, runner on third tags up and scores before they get the runner on second out because he does not get back to the second base before the throw.

How fast should my change up be?
the run does not count due to the fact that it was a force out at 2nd (no tag necessary). That runner should be reamed by the manager as he must have seen the runner ahead of him tagging up and should never have been caught in that situation. If both runners had tagged up, it would come down to whether the out was made at third before the runner touched home because the out at third would be a tag play.
I just saw this play on ESPN and the answer I gave above is wrong. The run WOULD count.
Why are the yankees soooo amazing?
No expert on the rules, but I don't see why not.No. The run will not count. If you get the 3 outs all runs that came in are null and voided on the play
What slugger annually donates $1 million of his $9 million salary?
Yes, the run counts because he scored before the runner at second was put out. In these types of situations you will often see a trailing runner who knows he will be out get himself involved in a rundown so that the lead runner can score.nope it odesnt count. since it was a force out, no runs scored before it counts. if the runner wouldve tagged up then been tagged out, the urn would still count
If the MLB made a best ever lineup, who would be in it?
Ah, the very definition of a timing play.Yes, the run counts. The batter is the second out, but the third out is not out on a continuous play.
Yes, the run counts, because this is a time play, not a force play.
Who is going to win the NL central, and why?
That depends. If the runner on second also tagged up, then yes, the run counts. If he didnt tag up, and the play at 2nd was a force play (no tag required, just tag the base) then no, the run doesnt count.
EDIT: Wouldnt you know, this just happened in the Baltimore game, and the run counted (3 innings later anyway). I guess im wrong, I learned something today.
The run counts because the 3rd out for not "tagging up" is an appeal play, not a force out. Hence the timing matters and in this case the run scored before the appeal. The 3rd out is really just another case of the so called "appeal play for leaving early". A force play means you can just touch the base instead of having to tag the runner but this is an example that shows that the reverse does not always hold true. Just because you can tag the base for the out does not mean it is a force play.
