I don't understand why people consider Derek jeter a future HOF?

Question:He only has about 800 EBI's, 2000 hits, 187 HR's.

Definately not Hall of Fame Numbers, and he is nearing the end of his "great period" of his career.

Definately not a Hall of Famer. I don't know why some crazy people think he is.

Answers:

Who is the best SS in NL East?

cause he will end up with over 3,000 hits, if he keeps it up.

and that makes you pretty much an automatic HOFer

Where would you rank Rich Harden as a starting pitcher in the AL?

anyone that can lead a team like Derek Jeter and have so many people talking about him is a possible HOF cannidate. Yes, i definately agre with you. Jeter is not the best hitter and stat producer. But if you find sometwhere that tells you how he hits when the Yanks are down 1-2 runs, you will be amazed. His defense is outstanding.

What world series matchup do you think would get the biggest tv ratings this year?

you obviously don't watch him play. He's only 32 yrs old and will be "great" for at least another 4 years.

he'll have over 3500 hits, 350 stolen bases by the end. His career BA is .317 and rising. He plays the toughest position under the brightest lights.

The "clincher" is the fact that no MLB player has more hits than Jeter in the 9+ years since 1998. I beleive, if you did the research, you would find that any player that was the "hits leader", for any 10 year period, is in the HOF.

He will go down as one of the top ten Yankees ever.

Why was the Chicago White Sox/Minnesota Twins game postponed today?

Derek Jeter is one of the greatest Yankees ever and one of the greatest SS ever!Just watch him and you will see why he will be a hall of famer.

What are A-Rod's chances at a triple crown?

He fields his position extremely well, hits for power and average, and doesn't seem to get hurt much. He hustles.

I am not a Yankee fan---quite the opposite. But Jeter is an obvious Hall of Fame guy. And---when you see his skills dropping off, let me know. He might have 10 good years left in him.

Boston red sox signed team ball 1975/1976?

Jeter is one of the best field leaders to ever play the game. He has had many 'famous' moments and has improved his defense steadily over the last few years and won a few gold gloves. He will end with a career average over .300 and will probably be just short of 3,000 career hits since he will play at least 4-5 more years and averages 180-190 hits per year. He has 4 WS rings, 6 AL Pennant rings, was the MVP 2000 World Series and 2000 All-Star game.

Hall of Fame is not about how many homers or RBI's you put up. It's about being a big time player all the time in many ways and Jeter finds a way to do that time and again.

The Hall of Fame has no specific 'numbers' although many players have similar levels but there are many players with good 'numbers' that have not made it and many players with less numbers that have because they were special players. the voters will look at the leadership and intangibles a player brings as well.

What are some of the best foods to eat at the ballparks?

Jeter Sucks he's no hall of famer. the best shortstop the yankees have is playing 3rd base. Lets Go RED SOX!

Baseball Trivia?

I agree with you. Jeter is the most over-hyped and over-rated player in baseball. How can anyone say he "leads" the Yankees? He is just an all star among a team FULL of all stars. If Derek Jeter played ANYWHERE other than in the Bronx, he would be just another good shortstop.

Answer this question right?

How can you say Jeter is not a leader? Have you ever watched a game from Yankee Stadium? Maybe the cameras don't pick up on it, but Jeter actually leads his team. He often speaks to players, both on the field and when they are due up. Once I saw Jeter say to A Rod 'Drive him in' when there was 2 out and Damon on 3rd.

Besides, anyone who watches him play instead of just looking at stats would see why he is called Captain Clutch. When it comes down to win or lose situations, Jeter is always there. He plays shortstop for the Yanks, and does it well. There is a reason why people who know more about baseball than me or you voted him 2nd for MVP last season.

Even if you don't take any of this into account, Jeter is 32. Not an age where people start to drop off. He has over 2000 hits, and is well on pace to get 3000. This number, on its own, has long been viewed as a ticket into Hall of Fame. And he will probabaly retire with a batting average north of .300

Oh, yes, there is also the matter of his 4 world series rings and world series MVP award. Do you honestly feel the voters for Hall of Fame won't take this into account.

How can MLB justify the free spending mentality? (Clemens...)?

You need to rethink the numbers, pal. Guys aren't sticking around long enough for those really high totals anymore. The pay is too good. Especially Jeter's pay.
Besides that, he's the consummate professional and a genuine team guy, and he doesn't care only about his numbers (Tony Gwynn, anyone?) He is the Captain of the New York Yankees (not even Babe Ruth did that) and he has four WS rings, too. How many WS rings does your favorite player have? You'd have to be crazy NOT to think that he is a legitimate HOF candidate.

How you throw a curve ball?

You obviously have no clue as to what a GREAT player is. Derek Jeter is a UNANIMOUS 1st ballot HOF'er. I am a Red Sox fan but I still appreciate the way Jeter plays the game, he is the ultimate team player.

Does Dice-K have A myspace/?

He's the captain and team leader. 4 rings, couple of GGs. His defense is HIGHLY overrated though. He's still a HOFer in my book, this coming from a Yanks fan.

Do Pitchers ever apologize to the batters they bean with a pitch?

he's not even the best shortstop on the yankees.if he played for the royals you wouldn't know who he was. a good player, but very overrated.

Who was the first major league baseball player to have his number retired?

He's been a great player during his entire career. He's been captain of the arguably best baseball team during that time period. He hits the ball incredibly well. He plays well in October.

He's a hall of famer

and I'm a Red Sox fan.
(which means I hope he doesn't get another hit for the rest of his career and gets drilled by Julian tomorrow)

Baseball/Basketball card pricing?

He always has been, and continues to be the most consistent player on the Yankees...and he's shown no signs of slowing down (if anything, he's gotten better these past couple of years).

I won't reiterate what practically everyone else has said, but I did notice one thing not mentioned that is often overlooked; his awareness and knowledge of the game. He's one of the smartest base-runners in the league, and he also has great awareness in the field, knowing exactly where he has to be no matter where the ball is hit (we all know his famous "flip to Posada."

And yeah, the 4 Rings, 3 GG's, and All-Star & World Series MVP Titles don't hurt either. And did you know he actually has more hits than A-Rod in less games? He has nearly 2200 hits in only 1700 games.

Not HOF material? You clearly know nothing about baseball.

(And I'd just like to commend the BoSox fans here for putting their loyalties aside and recognizing Jeter's "value")

What was the slowest pitch ever to be clocked in an official Major League game?

If he can manage to hang on another 5 or 6 years, he will get to 3,000 which probably seals his bid. Keep in mind also there are a lot of Yankees- Berra, Rizzuto come to mind- who are hall of famers with numbers today no one would consider hall of fame, but got in because they were well known and contriubted to championships. Jeter may be a little above those guys because he was the leader of the 1990's championships, but a Yankee with rings and so-so career numbers is not unpredencted.

Who are the new players in the 2007 season for the Los Angeles Dodgers (rookies or FA or traded players)?

He isn't in my opinion he's playing in city where all its players are over-hyped and WAY OVER PAYED if he were play for a small market team he would be as heard of as the KC Royals sweeping a series (LOL) he's an average SS with a great team around him. He's only putting up numbers of .310 BA, 17 HR, 80 RBI's SAY NO TO THE HALL also he's playing in an era of weak talented SS if your competition are these players: Alex Rodriguez, now team mate and 3B, Nomar Garricarrpa(Sp), who is now in LA playing 1B, and Miguel Tejada, who is playing for a crappy O's team isn't much of a challenge if 2 of 3 of your best competitors aren't even playing the same position as u any more is weak.

The question is: If I ruled the sports world I would.?

You said it your self he has 2000 hits, he is good. I have alot of respect for the guy, he is clutch for the yankees and he never gives up, which is why he is the captain, he never gives up and always gives it 110%

I'm a Red Sox fan, and I have so much respect for what Derek Jeter does

Baseball Equipment?

You are so wrong
that I bet you he will be with more than 85% of first time
ballot
and how you can say the end when 2006 was maybe his best year; his is on his prime! and I hate Yankees
