The Cubs have had a lot of bad luck, especially with Wood and Prior. They have finally stopped relying on them and invested in other pitchers. It is early in the season, and I think they will win the Central this year. They are losing a lot of one run games right now. That means they are playing well, but not coming up with the right play at the crucial time. Pinella will change that, and they will catch the Brewers. As for the World Series, they have a shot this year, but I think they are a player or two away. As Hill matures, that may help with the pitching. They need to strengthen the bullpen just a bit, and wouldn't love to see a left handed power hitter patroling center field or even right field for them, i.e. Griffey Jr. Nonetheless, I think they are about two years away.If someone likes Texas ranger then give me some reasons that why you like the rangers?

They have good players this year but a bad bullpen. They cannot keep a late inning leads or win close games. Piniella is making a lot of changes, and he is not afraid to ask for bullpen help. They are still not out of it in a weak central division, but they need help now.Howry and Eyre, two reliable relievers in recent years, just aren't doing the job. They're supposed to be set up guys that can bridge the gap from the starting pitcher to the closer. They haven't done it. Even if they do get to Dempster with the lead, I have a hard time having faith in him as the closer. He's been okay so far this year, but he was solid last April as well. They are two or three relievers from being a legitimate contender. If they make some changes now, they have a shot at the division. If they think they can wait until the trade deadline to get bullpen help, they will probably be out of the race.

this guy was talking bout the race in the central to be...he's a new annylist on sports center but anways...he stated that the cardinals are slumping badly yet they're staying just a few game back of the cubs while the cubs are getting alot more then expected out of jason marquis and derek lee is just hitting the ball amazingly. the rest of the cubs are itting as you would think of them they're good players are getting on base and the cubs are not playing bad baseball by their own standerds...yet like i said the cardinals are staying just a few games or less back. so when the cardinals start playing like they should and can be. there's no doubt they'll be winning ore games than then cubbies. keep in mind carp and mulder have been on the dl the whole season and juan e. as well.i didn't purposely infest your cubs question with cardinals talk but hey i thought it fits the question.
