What happens if bases are loaded w/ 2 outs and the cather drops the ball on the 3rd strike?

Question:Would there now be a force out at the plate?

Answers:

Why won't the Chicago White Sox show up under my.yahoo scores?

Yes, the force is on at home (and at all the bases for that matter) when there is a dropped 3rd strike with two out and the bases loaded. The catcher could simply just step on home plate for the 3rd out without making a throw to first base.

Rule 6.09
The batter becomes a runner when... (b) The third strike called by the umpire is not caught, providing (1) first base is unoccupied, or (2) first base is occupied with two out...

and from the Definitions in Rule 2.00:
A FORCE PLAY is a play in which a runner legally loses his right to occupy a base by reason of the batter becoming a runner.

So, with 2 outs and bases loaded, a dropped 3rd strike forces all runners. Instead of chasing the batter-runner down or risking an errant throw to 1st base, it would be much easier for the catcher to step on home plate for the 3rd out.

If the catcher steps on home plate before any runner crosses it, you score a K with FC for the batter and an unassisted putout U2 for the catcher. There is no passed ball scored because the force out is made, thus no runners actually advance safely (3rd out), but you have to account for the batter being left on 1B so your scorecard will balance correctly.

I'm just curious as to why Red Sox fans hate Johnny Damon?

The catcher would either have to tag the batter or throw it to first base for the out.

Is this a hit..?

yes

Does it make sense to fire a "conditioning coach" due to on field performances by the ball-players..?

If the bases are loaded with two outs and the catcher does infact drop the ball and it is calleda strike, there is then a force out at any base including home.

If the catcher drops strike three and there is a runner on first the batter is out. The base runner(s) may elect to steal the next base but they are not forced off their base by the dropped 3rd strike.

All the catcher would have to do is touch home plate. There is still a force at the nearest bag.

Will Jimmy Rollins hit more than 30 homeruns?

Everyone can run, including the batter, to first base. There would be a force-out at every base, including the plate.

If there is no put out to end the inning, the batter runner reaches and the runner scores on a strike-out/wild pitch or strike out/passed ball, as determined by the official scorer.

Who is going to win the AL Central in 2007?

The catcher would of course try tagging out the batter if not go to home plate and tag it
