Why do the Kansas City Royals continue to play poorly year after year?
Question:As a Royals fan I'm again being disappointed again this year. Again the Royals have one of the worst records so far this season. They have not been in the playoffs since they won the World Series in 1985. Looks like their gonna lose a 100 games again. Why ? Small media market ? Incompetent owners ? Bad luck ? What is the reason ?

What is ivan rodriguez career batting average against cleveland indians?
to robert david: you clearly haven't noticed the success of the twins and athletics latelythe main reason they can't win in kc i think is because of incompetent management...they have a lot of promise but allard baird continues to have trouble, in my opinion, evaluating talent and ends up with a lot of players who have potential but bust out in the end...also, injuries come around and seem to hit one or two of their key contributors year after year, and their inability to acquire quality pitching, partly because of a small market, hinders them tremendously...so effectively, it's a little bit of all the things you mention
Will the mets sweep the yankees this weekend?
They are from Kansas City, which isn't in Texas.Do the marlins, tampa bay, pittsburg, kansa city, and milwauke deserve teams?
You should have watched tonight's game. The idea of a "small market" media payoff is one of the biggest reasons. Instead of sharing money, the Congress permits baseball owners of corporate-television-monopolie... to pretend they are companies. The result is a San Diego, Pittsburg, or Kansas City has a difficult time building a team--by discovering and signing talent, buying the players they need, and keeping them in town long enough to come together and win a champinship.
Then you need a first-rate manager, one who can shift players around, find good additions to trade for, and handle the pitching staff.
It's the advertising money that makes the difference year after year for at least half the teams in the playoffs.
Would the rangers be better in a pitchers park?
bad G.MsAny reds or giants player will make the NL all-star team?
Probably a good mix of the 3. The small media market plays a huge factor when you consider some of the players that they've had to let go. If they had a way of keeping star players long term, they could have a sick outfield of Damon, Beltran, & Dye. Or atleast have kept them longer than they did. It's not very easy on the small market teams, however the Royals seem to be the worst at it. Other small market teams are able to find better talent and are better at developing that talent than the Royals. Some of that can probably be attributed to bad luck with drafts and signings I'm sure, but not all of it, no one can have that much bad luck. Can they?
Take a look and tell me if you think this player should be in the hall of fame?
Listen the season is still young! Don't give up on your team yet! My Yankees are in last place too,There's alot of baseballto be played yet! it's only April!! That's what makes baseball so exciting! Anything can happen,But to throw in the Towel in April!! how foolish.Piss and moan if their still in last place in Sept! But to do it now is foolish!! Don't knock Davids answer,, If your a real royals fan, you'll root for them till the end,YOUR TEAM WON GIVE THEM SOME CREDIT! IT"S A START!!
Up until this year (cross your fingers) the Royals have been acting and looking like a farm team. They refused to buy any players and continued to sell everyone good to teams like the Yankees, which totally sucks. Hey, one good thing though is they kept players like Teahen, Grudzi, Sanders, Buck and (sometimes) Shealy and German. Now, if they could just get some pitching going we might have something.
Um, Baird is gone, Dayton Moore is the KC GM now.
One big reason is that owner David Glass won't let go of anyone no matter how bad a job they do until it reaches the point of embarassing AND uneconomical. Like some politicians, he hates acknowledging mistakes or changing course. Took him forever to dump Baird, and he's been just as bad with field managers.
Plus the tightwad approach to players and getting rid of them before they peak doesn't help.
Anyone know a website that shows how to grip and pitch a baseball?
Because they've had GM's who continue to make bad choices. It's possible to compete with a small revenue stream, and it's also possible to not compete when you throw lots and lots of money at your team, But it's all about how the GM uses the money. Can the Tampa Bay Devil Rays win the world series this year?
Incompetent owner --David Glass (former Walton Mart exec)During the first 5 years of Glass' ownership (2000-2005) the Royals have averaged 97 losses, posting one winning record and three seasons with 100 or more losses, the worst sustained performance for the franchise in its 37 years of operation.
Glass is one of the richest owners in all of MLB baseball but refuses spend money to increase the payroll.
And MLB needs a Salary Cap because KC is not NYC,LA, or CHI.
