if they can develop their young pitching, then yes...they already have a wealth of good young position players plus scott kazmir is already an all-star, but they need to develop their other pitchers to add rotation depth and bullpen helpThe sucess of a team is based on what you can afford to bring the talent to you. I'm not talking of the teams the spend an extreme amount on older players. My opinion is what you are willing to pay for the raw talent out there and bring them up thru you minors.build on what they have and make it better.
I think they would need the first pick in the MLB draft, to get started. Then they would need to build a good reputation, then get more fans, then raise prices just a bit to get more money and sign and trade for good players.

In any other division I think they could compete.Its tough to be in the division with the Yanks and Sox not to mention the Bluejays who have a tough lienup to face now.They have so much young talent there its unbelievable.The main thing holdingthem back is they need more of a mix of veteran leadership.Young guys learn alot of tricks of the trade from the guys who have had alot of successful seasons in the majors.If they could spend a bit more to get a couple of big veteran bats in there and maybe one or two veteran pitchers to take the pressure off young guys like Kazmir and Shields I think they could be fantastic.If they played in like the NL West they could even be a playoff contender without that.Its tough to compete with the resources the other teams in the AL East have (deep pockets).They have been a thorn in the side of the Yankees and the Sox on numerous occasions so imagine what they could do in a weaker division.More Questions & Answers...
