How do u calculate ERA for Pitching?

Question:If i were to give up 3 runs in 7 innings how do i calculate my ERA

Answers:

Ballpark tours?

ERA is the number of earned runs you can expect a pitcher to give up in a complete 9 inning game. To calculate it:

ERA = (9 x Total Earned Runs) / Total Innings Pitched

In your example:

ERA = (9 x 3) / 7 = 3.86

Here's a challenge for you...?

ERA is based on runs given up over nine innings. For seven innings you would do this math:

3/7 = ERA/9

ERA = 27/7

ERA = 3.86
