no, they're probably out of it. In the AL east, you really can't afford to lose your ace. Maybe in the National League, where the wildcard is more open, but man, sorry, I'd be shocked if the Jays made it.totally unrelated Blue Jays trivia:

They were finished all alongthey're definitely out of it...with halladay set to be out until mid- to late june and b. j. ryan done for the season, the jays will be without an established closer for the rest of the year and without their ace for a while...plus they play in a division where boston is already good and the yankees are always a threat, so they're in big, big trouble

Find a fork, and stick it in them. They're done, folks.This was the year the Jays were attempting to make a legit playoff run. The locked up Wells long term. Brought in Thomas, brought in Ryan. And the current state of the Yankee's pitching staff, the Jays had a legitamate shot at finishing at least 2nd this year.
But remember last year when Halliday got hurt, the team fell apart. This year is much the same. Don't forget, Chacin is out right now as well. I'm sure that A.J. Burnett will tweak his elbow or his shoulder soon as well.
So the answer is most definately yes. As sad as it makes me to say it, the Toronto Blue Jays 2007 season is effectively over.

glaus needs to stay healthy, vernon's bat needs to wake up...rios needs to get on base more, and accardo will need to be strong in the role of closer in order for them to keep remote pace to the sox.
