Question:The record Bonds sets will be the record and will stand as such. It is becoming clearer and clearer that the number of Roid users in baseball is huge. At some point MLB swallows it whole by embracing Bonds et al and moves on or they risk an asterik so heavy it will sink the sport into oblivion.

You are right by not recognizing his record you arent hurting just Bonds your hurting the whole legitimacy of the league. Hundreds of players use performance enhancers Bonds is just easy to pick on because his stats are so far beyond any other player in the last 50 years.And for Bonds haters i can understand why you would hate him but you need to see that the media is just picking on one man and not worrying about the rest of the lot. They are picking on the easiest man. And to say none of Bonds' stats count is just plain ignorance on fans' part. check out baseball-reference.com search barry bonds and look at all the stats and all his achievments the list goes on and on. Also steroids were not illegal in the MLB until 2002 so all of his stats up to then should count meaning he is the ONLY member of the 500-500 club.

No it won't. Having him replace a fine upstanding member of the HOF will be more detremental than the biggest asterisk they can find. They need to include the phrase "chemically improved" when they mention his record. Every time they mention it. Finally, someone who agrees with me. Yes, Bonds used steroids, but so did a large number of players. And, now, with extensive steroid testing Bonds numbers are still among the best in the national league. Bonds has been made a scapegoat for the entire steroid era simply because he was the most successful. People don't boo many other players who openly admitted the use of steroids.If all steroid users are banned, the league would have to go back to the idea of replacement players. Unless baseball fans want to see this happening, forget the past, keep testing them now, and move on. I find it a little sophomoric to keep going on about hating someone you have never met, which most baseball fans do.

Not a a baseball fan at all but of course the story is too big not to notice. I think it's awful that the guy is getting so much blame for something that has never been proven. It's amazing in life how people get behind things without having any actual proof. If he did cheat and do something to be a little better than the next guy then he will face the cosequences, but he is accomplishing things right now that there is proof of that no one else has. He should be revered instead of reviled until proven otherwise.

If baseball embraced Bonds., the media would attack like a pack of dogs. You have to remember they are the ones leading the charge against Bonds. In my opinion it is because Bonds dosent let them into his world. Think about it. They knew McGwire was using, but he would give interviews and smiled for the camera,s so they let him be and even promoted his record. Truthfully, the game has already been damaged because of guys like Bonds, McGwire, Palmeiro, et al. For years and years, baseball was telling the public that players have evolved and become stronger and more athletic than they were in the old days. who says bonds has slowed down? the man is still fast and smart. he never gets caught stealing because he is fast. He is 42 years old why would he risk injury by stealing?? You watch in the late innings though...he will still second and sometimes even third. He is still fast.....so roids didnt take the speed..age and wisdom has just kept him from running as much.
