Will the Dodgers trade their prospects or pitching for a big bat?
Question:
Answers:
What is your opinion on the Reds' Derrik Lutz?
yeah i think they'll make a trade. A power hitter could take them much further. They might realistically end up with 4x .300 hitters and no one to knock them in.No. They are winning 60% of their games and have a 3 game division league. The scary part is the young guys should keep getting better and better.
Take a look at their roster:
C-Russell Martin: .321 AVG, 6 SB, 25 RBI, 27 R
1B-Garciaparra: .291 AVG, 25 RBI
2B-Jeff Kent: .300 AVG, 5 HR
SS-Rafael Furcal: .297 AVG, 5 SB
3B-Andy LaRoche: .300 AVG
OF-Luis Gonzalez: .274 AVG, 4 HR, 9 SB
OF-Juan Pierre: .281 AVG, 15 SB
OF-Andre Ethier: .282 AVG, 22 RBI
No stellar player, but they all are contributing, with the lowest average of a starter being 274. Gonzalez, Pierre, and Furcal provide speed. I agree, they do not have much power. But that's just one approach to the game. Sure, a good bat would be nice. But would you take out someone hitting .274 with 9 SB AND 4 HR, or the one .282 with 22 RBI? Also, they don't have much depth-that could be a problem, but why voluntarily cause issues for yourself?
Think of their pitching:
Hendrickson, Wolf, Tomko, Penny, Lowe. Great. Bullpen: Broxton, Billingsly, Saito. Good. They should if anything trade Broxton for some depth, maybe Wigginton because he plays many positions.
Can the New York Yankees will the American League East this season?
I'm gonna say no. They're already leading their division, which has good teams, but no truly outstanding team. I think they'll go with what brung 'em thus far. All other things being equal, pitching is what gets it done, and they wont want to compromise a strong staff.More Questions & Answers...
