Why doesn't MLB add another wild card team to the playoffs. It is so hard to make the playoffs in baseball.

Question:On the flip side the NBA and NHL teams have it to easy, half teams make the playoffs. I think the NFL has it right with two wildcard teams.

If you were to build a cricket stadium (or baseball) that had a dome or was covered in some way?

It's supposed to be hard to get to post-season in any sport. Baseball has already gone too far in allowing a wild card team. You ought to have to WIN something in order to go forwards, and a wild card team hasn't won a thing. A wild card is a consolation prize.

Post season should belong to the division winners only. In each league, give the division winner with the best overall record a first-round bye, while the others play three games for the right to face the best in their league for a best-of-5 LCS. Do it with no off days in either the best of 3 or the best of 5 series, but with an off day in between. Then, bring on the other league.

Just because other sports allow everyone and his uncle into post-season play doesn't make it right. It makes it money grab. A couple of years ago, the Celtics made it into the NBA post-season with a LOSING record. How does anyone justify a system that allows for that? And hockey? They let so many teams in the the teams going to the finals get all of 3 months of an off-season. How do you recover and get ready for the next season in just 3 months?

Who do you think is the most underrated team and player in the MLB?

because then there would be an odd amount of teams in the playoffs

Why do Dodger fans leave early from the stadium during a game?

The next change for the playoffs is to extend the division series to the best 4 of 7. A couple of years ago, Selig proposed 2 wildcards in each league in a one-game playoff.
It got shot down by either the owners or the rank & file.

How much do you think this piece of Sports Memorobilia is Worth?

The one wild card team makes the 162 game season meaningful and is designed to ensure quality playoff games. As you can see by the NBA's eastern conference just calling a game a playoff game doesn't ensure that it will be fun to watch. Plus if baseball was to add another round it would match the nba/nhl in rounds.

Have we overlooked something in the Barry Bonds case?

It would be watered down! The system that is currently in place works well. Look how watered down the NHL playoff are!

How do you do that sign Sammy Sosa does with his hands?

There are too many games as it is...another round of playoffs would push the WS more into Nov...a Cleveland/Chicago series would really blow at that time of the year.

NHL, NBA & MLS have too many teams in the playoffs...

Once again the NFL is the gold standard.

Is there anywhere online where I can watch the RED SOX opening day game?

baseball is the only league that does it right. this year in baseball and hockey, the first rounds were taking up to 2 weeks to finish. many teams are getting in with sub .500 records. that's stupid. football can have playoff byes because it's only a one game series and they only play at most 20 games if they make the superbowl.
the baseball season is twice as long as hockey and basketball and to stretch out the playoffs would be stupid. you'd be playing world series games in the snow for sure.
in baseball, only the best make the playoffs and it makes the regular season way more meaningful.
after 162 regular season games, it would be sad to see a 100 game winning team lose to a 80 game winning team. what's the point of having the regular season then.
baseball does it right. basketball and hockey need to only allow 8 teams in. not 8 on each division.
and it wasn't to long ago in baseball that only 4 teams made the playoffs total. that was great. but now there are too many teams. 8 is perfect.

Are San Francisco Giants Fans the worse in Baseball ?

"Its so hard to make the playoffs in baseball". And that's a BAD thing? It SHOULD be hard to make the playoffs, in any sport. Only the very best teams, who have earned the right to be there through exceptional play during the regular season should be in the post season-that's what the regular season is for. I think the NBA and the NHL are ridiculous. Regular season excellence means almost nothing in those two sports when half the teams get to play for the league championship. That's completely unfair to the clubs that busted to achieve excellence during the regular season. Baseball should NOT increase the number of teams making the playoffs.
