Will the cardinals retire Darrel Kyle's number 57?
Question:

Do the Yankees and Mets play in the same stadium?
I doubt they will ever officially retire his number, but I'm sure that no Cardinal player will ever wear that number again (whether as per team mandate or personal initiative).I think they should. They should also retire Josh Hancock's number 32. I know he wasn't a legend or anything like that, but he died while he was still playing for them, today(April 29).
Why do the Reds keep throwing Milton out on the mound when he is the worst pitcher in the league?
No, they won't with Hancock either. Yankees aren't retiring Lidle's # either.I doubt it. It's tragic what happened & it'll be awhile before anyone wears 57, but he was only in his 3rd year with St. Louis. He played 2 with the Rockies & came up with Houston & played 7 years total with them. If anyone should retire his number, it should be Houston.
He was great person, but only a better than average pitcher. He was 133 - 119 with a 4.12 era. Nothing else in the way of greatness on the field. One 20 game season with the Cards & a 19 game season with Houston. He was 1-4 in the post-season & had 5 losing seasons (going 21-30 w/a 5.80 era with the Rockies). In his 12 seasons, he never lead the majors or NL in any pitching catagory. He made 3 All-Star teams & finished 5th in Cy Young voting in 2000.
For the respect part I think that person wearing 57 or 32 should always remember and honor Kile and Hancock, so I am saying people can wear it but always remember those who have died.
They won't retire it, but I'm pretty sure they have a "DK" up with or near the retired numbers in honor of him.
Who was the bench coach for the Yankees last season?
They do honour him, but they haven't and won't do so by retiring his number. If there were going to do so, it would already have been done. The same is true of Kile's number with the Astros and the Rockies.
Hancock's number won't be retired either. But that doesn't mean that the men won't be remembered.
Starting to collect baseball cards again?
His number has been retired for a few years already. If you watch a Cardinals game in St, Louis you will see his #57 on the walls.More Questions & Answers...
