Question:Just curious about former A's pitcher Barry zito why is it that when he was playing with the A's he was doing really good but now since he joined san francisco he is starting to go down hill

He had started to Go downhill since his Cy young year.. check the Numbers, his ERA has gone up every year since he won the Cy Young.. HE stopped being scarey awhile back... why do you think San Francisco is only team that was willing to give him that much money? Dont you think the Yankees wouldve snatched him up, a young Lefty in Yankee stadium, If they thought he was still any good, he would be a Yankee right now.. Whats even more scarey about zito is the fact that when most good pitchers leave the AL to go to the NL, they usually get ALOT better.. Clemens, Pettite, Arroyo, etc.. But Zito has actually gotten worse... but alot of people would have told you, if you had asked, that Zito was a BAD signing by Giants.Zito's ERA has been around 4 the passed 3 years, and anyone who watched him pitch knows that it was a miracle it was that low... he has NOT been Good. The last good clutch game he pitched was the playoff game he pitched when matched against Johan Santana and The Twins.. and in that game the twins swung at ALOT of chest high fastballs because the Umpire was calling them strikes, his next start he got lit on FIRE... I dont Not like Zito, i actually wanted him on my team for a loooong time, but if you payed attention to what was going on in the American LEague, you would realize he has been mediocre to bad most of the times, and like i said, theres a reason NOONE wanted him, And the Rangers, Mets and Yankees all REFUSED to pay him what the Giants gave him. He has become the definition of inconsistant... That is NOT a good signing by the Giants.. dont be fooled by that Cy Young he won.. that pitcher is long dead.
thats just right the giant should pay 126 million dollars to him he had his golden seasons from 2000 to 2004.
His ERA was around 3.8 each of the last two years, and he went 16 and 10 last year.
I'm going to say that it is possible he just got off to a bad start.

Because the A's had one of the best bullpens in MLB and they made up for his mediocre pitching more times than not. The Giants don't have the bullpen the A's do, which will lead to more and more losses for the overrated Zito.Who is the fastest player in the MLB?
He's been on the decline since his Cy young year, and in a thin market for SP, the Giants definately overpaid him (money better spent on Schmidt). That said, he is still a decent (not great, but decent) pitcher and its only 2 starts into the season. If he is still allowing 8 ER a game come the all-star break, then there is cause for concern. as of now, nothing to worry about.Name back to back baseball mvp's at every possition. eg dale murphy / outfiield?
