Can the Minnesota Twins survive without Joe Mauer?
History-wise, it's the Yankees. Check out the history, the Yankees ARE winners. 26 World Series Titles, 39 AL Pennants, and 15 Eastern Division titles. There is no other team that has accomplished this.
I just realized you said from what year, so Ima have to say the 1927 Yankees. Murderer's Row, try to match that all star line-up! We had all the greats playing like they would die if they didn't.

Why are pitchers FAT and HAIRY, does it help their mechanics?
The best team ever was the 1927 Yankees "Murderer's Row"Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Earle Combs, Bob Meusel, Joe Dugan, Mark Koenig, and Tony Lazzeri helped form what was probably the greatest lineup in baseball history. Ruth had 164 RBI, Gehrig had 175, Meusel had 103, and Lazzeri had 102. Their pitching wasn't bad either led by Waite Hoyte (22 wins 7 losses 2.63 ERA) the starters combined for a 91 and 34 record. All togethor the team went 110 and 44 in the regular season and won the World Series in a sweep.
The Second Best Team Ever was the 1975 Cincinnati Reds "The Big Red Machine"
Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Joe Morgan, Pete Rose, and Davey Conception formed an infield with 3 Hall of Famers(Bench, Perez, Morgan), 1 banished would be Hall of Famer (Rose), and the other one (Conception) just got his number retired. Ken Griffey, Cesar Geronimo, and George Foster anchored a solid outfield.
The Pitching staff was led by Don Gullett (15-4 2.42). The team went 108 and 54 in the regular season and won the World Series.
Red Sox Fans: Do You Think Roger Will Make a Difference?
1.1998 Yankees2.1954 Indians
3.1927 Yankees
For one, the 1998 New York Yankees have to be considered. They had a season best 125 wins, and not as much "star power" as they do today. Tino Martinez, Chuck Knoblauch, and Scott Brosius, the eventual WS MVP in the infield with Jeter. Great pitching, defense, and teamwork are perhaps the 3 best things to have to win games. They had just that. As for the other team, I might say the 1927 Yankees. They had all of the above, and yet played with excellent chemistry despite have "murderer's row". And the pitching was better than people realize. They also won 109 regular season games. That's surely enough to make these 2 some of the best, if not the best ever.
