With the MLB saying that they will televise the first round of the Draft this year, will you watch it?
Question:I am going to, and hopefully within the next few seasons MLB will redo their draft to allow trades and what not. I think that televising the first 3-5 rounds will make for good tv. What do you think?

Televising the NFL and NBA drafts makes far more sense than the MLB draft. First round draftees in football and basketball will be, in most cases, name players the next year in the sport. MLB draftees, on the other hand, will often take years to make the majors. Baseball drafts are too much of a gamble to realistically make good tv. Sure, being a high draft pick is great, but who is going to know many of these players? First round NFL and NBA draftees usually have been on TV quite a few times, and their names are known. But MLB draftees, many right out of high school, might not even have any video footage for television to show.The MLB and NHL drafts are as much to stock their minor leagues with talent as they are to determine which team gets which players. With trades of prospects common, the draft means far less in shaping baseball teams than it does in football or basketball. The Mark Priors of the baseball world are few and far between; the time between being drafted and making the majors is too long for this to be relevant TV programming.

the mlb draft is like no other professional sportin the mlb draft you get the most busts but you get the most gems
personally im not going to watch it because there are hardly any players who can come in and help
it takes a lot of development in the minors so we probably wont see these players in about 3 years

most people can't name the top 5 prospects which will make for a really long watch unlike other sports where the ncaa has major television contracts and people are able to become familiar with the best players college baseball and minor league baseball are almost unseen.No fun to see if you don't know the playersWhat should MLB do when Barry Bonds breaks the HR record?
I won't bother. 90 percent of the players drafted are not even known, let alone are going to even play for the team if they have a chance to progress further. The NFL draft is over produced already, baseball is just thinking of ideas to cash in and try to be like the NFL.QUICK!...Who wins tonight, Yanks or Sox?

No, but it will catch on. In a few years alot of people will be watching.I won't because I won't know any of the players. The NFL Draft is a hit because we, as fans, grew up with the players in college in rooting for them and following them. Outside of their families and those in their community, I don't see the MLB draft being as big of a hit because those players aren't known that well nationally.
Has anyone looked at the twins new field model?
