I'm a life-long Yankee fan. While I enjoy lots of sports and have team favorites, no team gets me going--for good or ill--like the Bombers.Last Saturday's game which I attended is exemplary; 55,000 fans screaming their lungs out as Hall of Fame-candidate Mariano Rivera entered the game to protect a two-run lead in a much-needed game. He had failed in his last three appearances and the anxiety among the fans and Yankee team was palpable. No kidding. Well, Mariano came though and all 55,000 existed, singing, joking, hugging all the way. The Yanks are sports' most valuable franchise, valued at, I believe, $650 million. It's for a reason.

I'm not a Yankees fan but I've got no problem with the Yankees. I really wish the Royals would spend some money to put together a winning team. Steinbrenner does what he thinks he needs to do to win a World Series and I think every team owner should do the same thing, unfortunately they don't all see it the same way as me. I really don't like the Yankees fans, though. I have to admit I've never really known a Yankees fan that has been a lifelong Yankee fan. Pretty much everybody I know that roots for the pinstripes used to be a Royals fan and changed loyalties or roots for whoever is winning at the moment. I know a couple people that were huge Yankees fans a few years ago, but love the Red Sox now. Its those people that I hate.Circumstances to record a save in MLB?
