Need some help increasing my accuracy?
Question:I play 1st base and have great throwing speed but horrible accuracy. My coach told me to get a trash can and lay it down then stand about 30-40 feet away and throw a baseball in as fast as I can while remaining accurate. I've done this a couple hours a day for a while and it's working but it kills my arm so I need something else I can do to help increase accuracy that takes less energy. And i only have access to a baseball field twice a week when we have practice.
I need some drills or something that I can do at home, and please don't just say practice, practice, practice cause I know that.

What you need to do is fine-tune your throwing mechanics.If your throws are sailing high, your step when you throw might not be long enough.
If you're tossing them low, your step might be too long.
If left/right is your problem... first thing's first... you want to make sure you're pointing your toe at your target when you take your step.
Also, how you grip the baseball will impact this. You want to get into the habbit of finding the seams. When you throw, you want to basically have a 4-seam fastball grip.
The way you grip the ball will impact how it travels on it's flight to the target, the same way it does for a pitcher.
Lastly, you need to trust your arm and yourself. If you're thinking about it too much, trying to aim the ball, you're going to make more mistakes.
Throwing a baseball should be a natural thing for you. So just get your mechanics straight and let it happen. Don't force things.

This worked for meGet a nerf ball and make some sort of target about the size of a glove or a tad bigger and place the target on a wall or fence about waist high and 15-20 feet away. Practice throwing with that nerf ball just like a baseball until you hit the target every time.
This will help your mechanics and your accuracy without trashing your arm.
