For the worst ratios over a career:

For retired players with 300 or more career home runs, the worst KO to HR ratio belows to Bobby Bonds. He struck out 1757 times while hitting 332 home runs. So he strike out 5.29 times for every home run he hit.

Two active players though might challenge this record.

Reggie Sanders currently has a strike out to home run ratio of 5.28. He's struck out 1610 times to his 305 home runs.

By year end, Craig Biggio though might lock up the worst ratio. He's only hit 284 home runs in his career so far but if he reaches 300, and keeps striking out at the same pace (he currently has 1669 career strike outs) this will give him a ratio of 5.88.

Andre Galarraga is the only other 300 home run hitter with a ratio of over 5.0 strike outs per home run. (2003 strike outs, 399 home runs for a ratio of 5.02)

Why do some people consider Biggio as being a better 2nd baseman than Alomar?

I don't know what your requirements are, in terms of minimum games, or HR's, or at-bats... maybe there's someone out there who played in 1 game, hit a home run and didn't strike out... he'd have one hell of a ratio.

I believe, that these things are usually acknowledged at 1,000 games played.

If so, I further believe Albert Pujols will soon be the all-time HR/K leader with a ratio of 1:0.624 (970 games)

I don't know who is currently considered to be the leader of this stat, but Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds and Babe Ruth probably rank right up there as all three players hit a lot of home runs and struck out a relatively low number of times for power hitters.

By comparison, Mark McGwire had a ratio of 1:0.365 and Alex Rodriguez 1:0.334

(Wow... I had no idea Ted Williams struck out so few times. I don't think anybody will ever touch that ratio)

Which are the best seats to purchase to go to a New York Yankees home game (max price $100 each)?.?

Joe DiMaggio
