Good question. Answer-yes. Cubs fans are part of a inter-city rivalry with the White Sox. North vs South. This will always keep the fan base fairly rabid. As for concerns regarding the eclectic and historic stadium-don't worry. New stadiums now are being built with a retro look but also with modern comforts so a new stadium won't scare loyals away. The Cubs popularity also exists in it's loveable losers identity. If they continue to dissapoint, the loveable losers mystique will be enhanced.
