Under ASA softball rules, does an umpire have to audibly call an infield fly, or is a hand motion sufficient?
Question:if it does have to be audible, does it have to be loud enough for say the third base coach to hear it if the umpire is inbetween first and second
Answers:
You have 1 game to win, who's your pitcher..?
It should be both a hand motion and audible. Why does some MLB teams don't use the players names on the uniforms?
Ha, sounds like someone had an incident during a game.First, yes, it should be audible. Second, this is typically the plate umpire's call, not the base umpire. Finally, you shouldn't have someone coaching third base if they are unfamiliar with the rule. They should know that it is an infield fly situation without the umpiring having to yell it.
What is the best way to warm up your arm the day before you pitch?
Was the ball caught? If so, IF does not matter. It should be an audible and visible signal. But the situation dictates it, not the judgment.
Roger Clemens announced today that he was rejoining the Yanks, but when will he be ready to pitch?
Great Question ASA is my favorite league to play!First the umpire should call the play.
Second he should show the signal.
Third if he has a problem reading the call, or awsering it he SHOULD call help from the other blue to evaluate the call of the play made.
I hope this helps
