Why have the angels not been accepted in LA?
Question:I don't like the Angels. I Keep hearing how the Angels are going to take over LA, but nobody cares for them because they are not in LA county or CIty. Is this true or I'm in the heart of Dodger Country. I live by Downtown LA.

I think the same reason why the Clippers could never out shine the Lakers. The Dodgers have a great history going back to Brooklyn. Multi-championships with legendary players. The Angels can't compete with that. Also look at the list of hall of famers the Dodgers have. Again, the Angels can't compete.The Angels seem to change their name very so often. That in itself might confuse the younger fans.
I wouldn't worry about the Angels. The Dodgers belong to LA and I'm guessing LA belongs to the Dodgers.

Probably because the Angels do not play in Los Angeles.Though I also think that part of the reason that Arte Moreno did this was because he wanted the bigger name that comes with Los Angeles. No one outside California knows where Anaheim is. In fact, go to any of the other 49 states and ask them were Disneyland is, they will say, "It's in LA." When I was growing in the Bay Area, I thought the whole region was called LA.

They aren't accepted in Los Angeles because they dont even play there. They are an Anaheim team, and won the world series as an Anaheim team. Los Angeles is the home of the Dodgers. I dont think the town of each team makes a difference either. I am a major dodger hater but the reason they haven't been accepted is b/c they're trying to ride on the coat tails of the Dodgers popularity. And by changing their name over and over again it's just getting old. I think they put the LA in their name to try and get as much fame as the Dodgers have but it's not working, just go back to being the Anaheim Angels or just stick with a name, heck they could be the DisneyLand Angels for all I care, then maybe they might be a little popularShould Barry Bonds be allowed to have the all time home-run record?
look i am an angles fan and i am disapointed that they changed their name but it is not the angles fault and neither is it a big deal.it is just for publisity that they wont get from LA anywaysHmmmm...let's see. The Halos won the World Series in 2002 (dramatically, by the way). They also crushed the Yankees on their way to the Championship that no one thought they'd win. The Angels are consistently a threat in the playoffs, due to some clutch hitters and excellent starting/relief pitching (they do need another big bopper in the lineup, though).
The Dodgers have been doing pretty well recently. I'm a big Nomar fan, and they have good pitching. However, the Dodgers haven't been in the World Series since 1988. They have only won one playoff game since then. Although they may be able to compete in a fairly weak National League (except the Mets), no one realistically expects the Dodgers to go deep in the post-season.
I agree the name "The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim" is a dumb name. The Dodgers will always have a great fan base in LA, but the Halos will continue to gather support in the Southland as long as they keep winning.

First off learn how to spell Anaheim!!! Second umm didn't we just sweep the Dodgers? So we have bragging rights. Plus we have a better record right now and like someone said more fans come to our games then yours so maybe if you open you eyes you will see that the Angels are accepted.Contrary to your comment, if you listen to the post game Angels call in show I hear fans calling from Northridge, Long Beach, Whittier, Glendale, Covina, Manhattan Beach etc. None of those places are in Orange County! I agree the name change was stupid, but I also believe the Dodger games are getting a lot more rowdier. A Giants fan got SHOT in the parking lot of Dodger stadium, they had to change the parking to make people feel safer! I grew up with the Dodgers and still root for them in the NL, but I became an Angels fan in the 1980's and have stuck with them since. I love the rivalry between the 2 teams, and it hasn't been until the last 5-7 years that both teams are a consistent threats. I think a Freeway World Series would be the greatest Southern California sporting event in history!
