Mantle, Whitey Ford and Billy Martin are out on the town having a ball. They have a game the next day and Mickey is really hung over. I mean REALLY hung over. Well as fate would have it Mickey plays the game half hit in the @$$ and still has a great day. Makes a couple of outstanding plays in the field and goes 4 for 4 at the plate. When interviewed after the game the reporter asks MIck about his "flu" like symptoms and how it effected his play. Mickey, not wanting to let on that he was in the middle of a serious hang over tells the reporter, "Well, I was having trouble with my vision. I kept seeing three of everything while I was at the plate." The reporter replies, "How did you manage the get four hits today including the game winning home run?" Mickey answered, "Well, when I saw the three balls coming at me, I just tried to hit the one in the middle!"
