Of your two options, Pavano was worse simply because we still don't know how Igawa is going to turn out. However, the Pavano signing is heinous only in hindsight. When the Yankees signed him, he did have past problems with injuries. However, he had started at least 30 games in two straight seasons with the Marlins, with over 200 innings pitched each of those years. His 2004 campaign was very solid, so the Yankees did have cause for optimism. Igawa's signing, though ballyhooed as the Yankees' answer to Daisuke Matsuzaka, had (and still has) a lot of potential. Igawa's Japanese numbers are a model of consistency, and there's no reason to give up on that promise quite yet.

Well pavano's contract is about to run out and he has pitched like 2 games. Igawa still has a future and we really dont know yet how he will do as an mlb pitcher. So I have to say pavano

Pavano. He's gonna have Tommy John surgery and his fiasco years with the Yankees are over. At least Kei Igawa has a possible future if he gets his head out of his azz.

Also, Keep in mind that Pavano actually withheld some injury information about himself, that didn't sit too well with the Yankees front office. And he alienated a lot of his teammates. At least Igawa, so far, seems to be trying.

I would have to say Igawa, because now that Pavano will sit out at least another year, probably two, so that the elbow can heal from Tommy John surgery, he can't hurt the team in any way...Igawa will just hand them loss after loss with his horrendous and overrated pitching abilities...I find it hilarious that despite all the recent struggles and injuries from the Bronx Bombers, they still haven't recalled their expensive import from AAA...who the hell is Clippard? Karstens? WTF?
