He was the first 4 sport letterman at UCLA. He got court martialed while in the Army for refusing to give up his seat in the front of a bus. After baseball he got involved in politics and worked with governors and civil rights groups trying to get the laws changed all around. Baseball was his most famous victory, but he only spent 10 years there. The rest of his life was spent fighting for the rights of people all over the country. He wrote an autobiography called "I Never Had it Made" if you really want to learn more about this amazing man. He's my hero for more reasons than playing baseball. He is an example for all of us, no matter what injustice we are fighting.Who's your pick: ryan howard, albert pujols, carlos beltran, lance berkman?

Jackie Robinson is in the Hall of Fame. His number (42) has been retired from baseball with the exception of players who were already wearing it. In 1997 the U.S. Mint struck Silver and Gold Commemorative coins in his honor. He stole home 19 times in his career, more than anyone since WWI. He's a career .300 hitter. He served in WWII. He is one of the bravest Americans in our history.
I've always wondered why batters staired the crap out of pitchers after they get struck out...?
