Yankee fans in denial?
Question:I can't help but notice that all Yankee fans on the board are all like zombies all saying "We will come back and win it like we always do." Its like none of them even have an understanding of baseball or the fact that this is not those same teams that came back in the past. This is not the old Petite,Clemens,Wells,El Duke,Mussina staff that goes 7 or 8 innings consistently with an occasional 9 and keeps the bullpen fresh and strong all season long. They basically are stuck with a load of 6 inning starters with a 7 or 8 on rare occasions. How can you tax your bullpen that much and expect to make the same comebacks as with the above mentioned kind of staff? I predict they lose the division by double digits and I am yet to find a single Yankee fan who even ponders the possibility they might not win it this year if they don't make big changes.I understand supporting your team and all but if they don't get starters with endurance for longer innings they have no shot at even staying close.

Please pass on to all Cardinal and Cubs fans that you know?
I hate the yankees and the fact that steinbrenner tries to buy the world series year after yearseems to me that yankees fans prefer to live in the past as it suits them. it suits me to live in last season when they were too busy looking down their noses on them to realize they were being swept out of the playoffs by the mighty mighty Tigers.
Randy Johnson is going to play in modesto calif. sunday april 7,2007?
Thank you so much for setting us Yankee fans straight! Thank you very, very much. I should just take your advice and completely give up on the season. Heck, even though the Yankees have played 35 games this year, and have 127 left, it's over, no doubt about it. You are right, we have no understanding of baseball whatsoever. No team at all has ever started off poorly and won a division. Not ever. Not even when the Yankees started 11-19 two years ago, and looked as bad as they do now. I am guessing you are one of the Yankee haters who refer to Yankee fans as "frontrunners" or "fair weather fans". But you now see we stick with our team through thick and thin. They were also well behind Boston last year, and I do believe they won the division. Is it good that they are 17-18 and 7 games back? No it's not good. But will they improve? Yes they will. Their starters may not be the best, but they haven't been healthy all season. Will Boston win about 110 games? No. Will Beckett be 30-0? No. Will the Yankees hit a hot streat at some point? Yes. Will Boston hit a slump at some point? Yes. All it takes is a couple of weeks to turn a season around.
What just amazes me is that Yankee haters spend so much time writing trash like you (and it's spelled PETTITTE, and EL DUQUE, get that right at least if you are going to bash). What is the point of your question? Is your life that miserable and empty that you need to inform us Yankee fans that in your opinion, the season is over? I just don't get why someone waste so much time writing this.
Prediction: The Yankees don't make the playoffs in 2007.
I think the Yankee's moves this year like using a 10 man starting rotation are very innovative. Certainly that will keep their starters fresh so it's not all bad for them.
Among active players, who has hit the most HRs as a visiting player at Fenway Park?
It's still the middle of may. There's still 4.5 months left in the season. There is a chance of them coming back and winning.I'm not a yankees fan either. I go for the dbacks and rockies.
Now if it was august and theyre 7 games back, I would say probably not. But were just a month and a half into the season.
I hate the Yankees, and I love the Red Sox. However, anybody who is calling the Yankees season over is a complete homer moron. The Red Sox have had a knack for choiking in the second half, which is when the Yanks play their best ball. When the Yankees get healthy, they will be an extremely tough team to beat. I think the sox beat them, and win the division this year...but double digit lead? Give me a break.
Does anyone think Barry Zito has a chance at NL Cy Young?
thats what makes yankees fan different from any other team. we actually expect them to win year in and year out. our fans dont give up our yankees. we're barely getting every one back. these first few games for them are like spring training games for them. they need to get their arms used to pitching. if not you'll have a problem like woods and prior or even liriano a year back. if you push them out and expect them to be in mid season form you gotta be crazy.they be okay.maybe not win the division but as a wild card. as long as we're in the playoffs and we have a chance to make a run for the series we're good.
Who should start has catcher in the all-star game in both leagues?
WHat are you talking about? Yankees always come back, once George opens his checkbook. Will the cubs ever have a winning season or they are just going to be losers like always?
I am a Braves fan,and I hate the Yankees, However if you look at the Braves run of Div titles, almost every year they won, they stayed at or near .500 till around the all-star break. Then in late July and early Aug, they would start their runs. So don't count the Yankees out.Now that being said, the Yankees need at least 2 half way desent pitchers, to stay healthy and make starts(not wins) they have so many power hitters that they can score at will at times, but without quailty starts, their bullpin is gonna die at the end of the year, and no Clemmens (one of the all time best) cant save the Yankees by himself.
Good Met Bars in the NY Metropolitan area??
It is a young season right now. We might be talking different come August.Being a Red Sox fan I am used to this. Sox look good for the first few months then sometimes disappoint except for 2004, 2005, 2006.
Yankees fans have to accept lose as well.
But don't be a fair weather fan , choose a team and stick to it.
True, but outside of Rivera, who is having a mediocre season, who is in their bullpen who is a first rate pitcher as a reliever?? So, their fans are dreaming unless they can find one or two quality starters. Wang is a wash, Mussina is moving past his prime to being old, Petite is a 500 pitcher, Clemens may be good but who knows until the drama king decides to pitch, and overall, they just do not have the pitching to do well this year.
Chow!!
Give me your're best baseball chants!?
Wow, get a life buddy. Jeez, ur in denial that the Yankees r actually starting 2 win every game. Remember last year, the Yankees were 3 games back at the end of JUNE! It's barely the middle of May.Oh yea, and on their way 2 tha top, they'll beat the Red Sux.
If a Boston Red Sox season ticket holder loses his ticket(s)...?
I'll agree that it's a pleasant, refreshing change to see some other team in first place in the AL East. That said, anyone who thinks the Yankees are out of it -- particularly in mid-May! -- holds optimism borne of either historical ignorance or sheer idiocy. Remember 1978.
If you weren't old enough to remember, or weren't even born yet, then look it up.
It still hurts.
EDIT: Let me sum it up.
The Yankees will never, ever die for another team. They have to kill them. I've seen it plenty, more than enough to ever write off the Yankees until the magic number reaches zero.
What exactly causes tommy john surgery? im confused.?
I don't care about the responses that everyone wrote here. I agree with you completely. The Yanks are old, tired, and hanging on by a thread.
Damon--Always hurt, no arm.
Jeter-Let's face facts...he's great.
Abreu-Now Yankee fans know why Philly dumped him.
A-Rod-Nice April, Horrific May (for him).
Giambi-Still-a-juicin'
Matsui-Just can't get on track
Posada-nice start, destined to fade
Cano-Can you say Sophomore slump?
1B--Disaster
Their pitching is a mess. Even when healthy, they'll go about 5-6 innings and leave it up to an overworked and average bullpen. Yankee fans arrogance simply doesn't allow for them to admit anything. Everything will be "alright" in the end. This year, I just don't see who the savior is, unless Steinbrenner has funded a search for the fountain of youth.
Rafeal Furcal or Michael Young?
Wow, I had no idea the MLB season just got shortened by 130 games...that sucks I was really looking forward to July baseball. It has nothing to do with past performances for the Yankees...FACT: the season is barely a month and a half old...the Yanks are playing poorly but there are still a TON of games that needed to be played. Going by your theory that seaons are won in May then the 2005 O's and Nats would have won their divisions and gone onto the playoffs. It doesn't work that way in this great game. Let the Yanks get healthy, stop throwing single A pitchers on the mound to win them some games and we'll see where they are at; they may not win the division, but they should make the playoffs with that kind of roster when healthy. As far as the pen there is no question Torre has overused them to the point of being ridiculous, but at the end of the day the starters should get healthy and make nice runs deeper into games and it should take some pressure off of those middle relievers. Take into account that Red Sox and O's have had ZERO injuries to speak of and I think the Yanks have a more than good shot to repeat again as Div champs. That's not being ignorant or a homer, those are just the facts. This is May...send this question back out in early July and we'll see where the chips fall...A LOT can happen to A LOT of teams by then...BTW the first answer that someone posted doesn't make any sense to the question asked...nobody cares of you think that Yankee payroll is too high...they work w/in the parameters of MLB rules and pay the luxury tax so other teams can be competitive. Blame your teams ownership on not spending it on the field, not Steinbrenner. Everyone said the LA Angels couldn't compete in the salary game and look at what they are doing with a new owner...that areguement is old and ridiculous. Money does not guarantee championships; smart spending does (trust me, I know).
Where can I find footage of Chicago cubs fans booing that guy for catching ball in world series?
Really, this is not their year, Clemens won't help. They've seen the last Worlds Cahmapionship in this ballpark.
They need a complete overhaul, their entire system has to be rebuilt; and Joe Torre is NOT the problem.
im not in denial im not in denial im not in denial. haha no i agree that with the way they are playing the bullpen we wont win.maybe they'll change their strategy?? =))
**hopin for a miracle**
Has a baseball team ever scored at least 1 run in all 9 innings of a game?
With 127 games left to play ,if you think our team is gonna roll down and die,you need a serious wake up call,We are not out of anything yet! We have alot of baseball to play yet,And with our lineup we'll be just fine! I do agree with you that our starters have to go into deeper innings, they will, and we're getting Phil Hudges back in a few weeks,If anything,i feel the back end of our pitching needs work! Farnsworth has to do better,Rivera needs a different change up! and i don't know what happened to Vizcanio!! This is the area that needs work!!More Questions & Answers...
